Bizzare if true. Supposedly Oregon St had interest in Butch after he was fired and there's been talk of teams having interest in him this off-season.

Weird...coaches are usually the least self-aware people in the world but maybe he's figured out he's not cut out to be a HC. HC to position coach is a pretty big fall.

Receivers were never coaches well when Butch was here.
Coupled with the fact that he only has 3 years of experience as a WR coach, 99, 05, and 06. Don't see Sarkisian or Saban giving Butch that job unless they believe that they have so much talent in their receivers that not even he could screw it up.

It's not actually that uncommon. Once you have head coach money, you can bide your time waiting for the right job. A lot of coaches will end up taking a position coach role in the meantime; waiting for a HC or OC/DC type role the next season.

The bigger red flag is that no one wants him as an OC after a "year off" so to speak. Saban hired him as "Analyst" and Locksley just gave him a TE Coach position; which sounds like they are trying to put him in position where he can do the least damage coaching while still being able to recruit. Reaffirms the idea that recruiting is the only thing he's good at.
