Butch really needs to own TN

While I would like to see this happen, I don't see it being realistic. Georgia's top four prospects--Nkedemich(?), Lawson, Montravious Adams, and Vonn Bell--all chose to go to school in other states. And the University of Georgia is arguably better than some of the schools they went to.

Even though I don't think it's realistic, I do think you have to try your best to grab the state's top talent.

At least 3 of the 4 GA players you named were very situational and really not part of the "normal" state recruit.

Lawson wanted something very specific, small-town feel. Nkemdiche wanted to play with his brother at Ole Miss. Von Bell actually is from TN and was allegedly a Vol fan. I don't know much about Adams.

CBJ and staff seem to really want to lock down our state and with good reason. We had 3 five-star recruits this year (Ramsey, Herron, Bell) and potentially 3 or more next year. IMO, if they stay at it with the 2014 recruits all year with the energy they displayed in the short time this year, we'll do more than okay.

Was just about to post this. There are a lot of talent-rich areas outside the state, which are much closer, where I would rather see this staff expend their energy.

Cherry pick Memphis for players like Jason Carr. And P Wilson in '14. Get the good kids and leave the head cases to someone else.

Many Memphis kids come with rough baggage (I know, I am one :hi: ) The key will be to correctly sort them out. Do not get me wrong, I am glad that I am FROM Memphis!

just wondering why did butch not recruit corn elder? he hasn't committed yet if we are looking for some game changers might be worth a try just to ask. Could end up being like the Randall Cobb situation.

1. He's said he doesn't want to stay in TN for 4 years
2. Dooley didn't try to convince him to
3. Likes Basketball just as much, if not more than football
4. Our recruiting staff back then were idiots.

Sad thing is, as good as he is he will probably sit on the bench somewhere to rot. While at UT he would have been the best thing since sliced bread.

Three 5-star players in the state of Tennessee. This is the first time TN has ever had that many highly rated guys in the same year. DE Frank Herron, CB Jalen Ramsey, and CB/S Vonn Bell were all 5-stars and we lost all three. This CANNOT happen in the future.

There are tons of SEC level players in TN.

The funny thing is, look at FSU's state pull. It's absolutely scary how easily they get state recruits. At least 90% of the class is from Florida.
