Key points Butch made (not in same order he made them; grouped by topic):
p.s. During the press interview, Butch was asked about the OLine appearing on SportsCenter for their at times hilarious "Life in the Shadows" theme on social media. For those who missed it like me, here's the link to that ESPN clip:

Key points Butch made (not in same order he made them; grouped by topic):
- Practice tonight is going to be a mock game in Neyland Stadium.
- A key team focus right now is being "game ready" = can you play 80-90 snaps at a high level?
- on JRM: "he's 100%."
- on Jauan Jennings: we anticipate him being ready for the game next Thursday night.
- on Shy Tuttle: continues to be a work in progress. He's not game ready right now, but we don't play for another nine days. He's right on schedule. We'll see in the next week.
- on KMac: night and day how far he's come. He's invested in his body, and continues to get better and better, and better. He's a football junkie, a motivated individual.
- on backup QB: Dormady is our backup QB. Sheriron still a little bit limited. We're bringing Guarantano along. They're all pushing each other. Dormady's our #2 guy.
- on wide-outs: I think they're ready to take the next step. I think the critical thing is health. You can see these players developing. As a whole, they had a very good camp. Two keys to WR group: make key, clutch plays. And consistency, every time. Preston, and Josh Malone, and Josh Smith have brought that, day in and day out.
- on the freshman class: We're gonna play a lot of freshmen. There's 4 individuals out of the entire recruiting class that we plan to red-shirt right now.
- on team chemistry: I do like what I've seen. I'm still looking to see how tough a team we are, not physically but mentally, how we handle adversity. The great teams continue to get better every week, week in and week out. Doesn't matter who the opponent is, they take a workmanlike approach: never too high, never too low.
- on recruiting classes: you don't judge classes on their stars; you judge them three and four years down the road, on what they've done.
- on the spread: I don't think anyone has truly defined "the spread." Everyone runs something unique. What we run is unique to us. We have multiple tempos in our offensive inventory. We don't play football at one constant speed. We can protect our defense using our offense, but there are also times we'll push the tempo when points are at a premium.
- on App State: They definitely have our attention. We have started installing for them, and we'll get more into them as the week goes along.
