This isn't a gripe about the game, it's always bothered me and I think I'm just disgruntled enough after today's game to vent about it.

But does Barnett look like a kid to you?? Does Hurd? Dobbs knows more about pretty much anything than you ever will, he's not a kid.

Stop patronizing your players. It's condescending. When I was a college student I certainly didn't want anyone thinking of me as a "kid" or referring to me as a "kid"

Sorry, rant over. I just heard him say "I feel sorry for these kids" in his presser and I'm thinking of how much that would get under my skin at their age, especially after a loss.

I see it as being condescending. These players came into this game thinking they were an unstoppable group of champions. They got embarrassed and get to hear their coach refer to them as kids he feels sorry for.

Whatever.

Fine it's a stupid gripe. I'm done for the night.

I hate football.

It could be worse. We could all be Georgia fans.

Goodnight VN.

If you're a parent of one of his players, isn't he coaching your kid?? C'mon chatt, you're better than this..Be upset over the loss but don't stoop to criticizing his use of the word kid to describe his players..I just got my 2 "kids" through college and take no humbrage to the use of the word..

When these kids are older, especially when they're much older, they'll be nostalgic for the days when older folks called them "kids". Let them be kids for as long as they can possibly make it last. The responsibilities of adulthood come much too soon for most of us and the halcyon days of youth pass much too quickly.

I have to agree with OP.
I'm 31 I have 2 kids, when they are military age they become men. My dad referred to me as man when I graduated high school in 2003 right after my 18th bday.
I've been a man ever since. His customers refer to me as "Jeffs son" not "Jeffs kid"

Treat men like men , kids like kids.
A kid doesn't practice at collegiate level athletics and attend collegiate classes, adults do.
Young men is acceptable.

People need to quit trying to find a word or phrase to complain about. I called some of my best Marines Mother-Fs and they knew when I said it that I wasn't trying to demean them. You don't have to like it, but we as fans are outsiders. We watch the show, and just like a magic show, you sometimes are a part of the show. People have a variety of terms that they use when they address a group of individuals and that group is the only ones that need to know if it is endearing or condescending. I can guarantee you that if the players didn't respect the way that the coach spoke to them, it would be public news.

Having said all that; if you had told me that we would be where we are with breaking the streak against either Alabama or Florida, I would be pleased. GO VOLS!

Well I had a grandfather who was a marine, and an uncle, they're a different level of "men"
Thanks for your service hero!
