A couple of things I've picked up on.

- Doesn't want former Vol players as Coaches. Jay Graham was one of thr best RB coaches. Tee Martin one of the best WR coaches. Terry Fair was a GA for a year? This makes me believe he's worried about being undermined by someone that is loved more by the fans.

-Always praising Peyton Manning. This is a political move and nothing more. Why? Because he has not used the greatest mind at QB football has ever seen- to improve his passing game.

- App State huddle interruption. Dude we had just showed our respect on the field. He did this for himself. He's the man at Tennessee. Its his Stadium and by God you're not gonna have a huddle after the game on my field without me allowing it!! No blue font.

Butch is not we want. I'm seeing through his little vail...

That makes no sense. We brought Tee in from CA, and basically offered him a job...he opted to stay in Hollywoodland. After last night, he may regret that decision. From what I've seen, Peyton thinks highly of Jones, and supports what he is doing.

There are more VFLs around the program than just about any other time.

No doubt, Butch makes mistakes and needs to clean up issues, but having former players around isn't one of them.

Just no.

Can someone please kill this thread before it gains momentum? More of the same bashing that is so prevalent here. I would love it is this site existed back when I was in school in the 80's because the legends of some of the great coaches would have been greatly lessened. Butch is not quite ready for prime time yet, but those in the past would have looked a little more human if someone was spouting baloney every time they sneezed.

I agree. Nick Saban has stocked his coaching staff full of former Bama players. That's why they have a dynasty. This must be the key

I'm flashing back now remembering the glory days of Lane Kiffin and Kirby Smart and Jeremy Pruitt and Derek Dooley all playing on the 1965 Alabama team that Nick Saban quarterbacked.

- Not all former Vol coaches fit his system. Just bc they are former players doesn't mean they necessarily fit into his philosophy, ie. Chuck Smith.

- P. Manning is an ambassador for the program, and nothing more. If I remember correctly, BJ had Manning discuss his views in a meeting with coaches a few years back, maybe it was lst year. Look it up.. He seemed to be giving quite a few coaching pearls if I remember correctly.

- Butch Jones was simply showing his respects to a very good football team that did everything right, that deserved to win. BJ knows what that feels like (I reference the FL game last season).

- B. Jones is exactly what Tennessee football needs. I will take another 9 win season gladly over falling back into the 6-7 win slumps we've become used to over the past 10 or so seasons.

You maybe 100% correct. I'm not buying it.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the Orange Kool-aid, the way it looks in the glass, the flavor, and the way it makes me feel, buy come on your reaching is bugging me.

I still say until Butch loses another game whether it's next week, next month or next year, let him do his thing. I just don't think we should fire the guy in the middle of a 20+ game winning streak. If he blows it then that's on him, if he holds it together and gets it done, let's all go to the strip in Tampa and have a Big Orange Party.
