Butch Jones still upset about Shy Tuttle’s injury against Georgia last year

Watching the replay of B@B and when Tuttle recovers the bad snap Herbstreit is praising him and says something like he broke an ankle last year.
Did he not do his homework or does he believe this? Someone with twitter should send to Kirk and show him what happened with the clip of the hit.

Dude, that was the definition of an illegal block. A high-low block is illegal, a block in the back is illegal, chop blocks are illegal from behind, crack back blocks are illegal in that situation. It was as illegal AND dirty as it gets. That it happened 10 yards away from the play only makes it worse that it didn't get called or penalized by the SEC in some way. I hope Kublanow gets what he deserves somewhere down the line. That kind of garbage ruins careers and he did it with the intent of injury, there's no doubt. Otherwise, why do it so far away from the play?

I said it was a DIRTY play...
but even the SEC office said that it was a legal block....you ARE ALLOWED to block a defender below the waist...and below the knees....

A CHOP BLOCK is:
"a block by the offense in which one offensive player (designated as A1 for purposes of this rule) blocks a defensive player in the area of the thigh or lower while another offensive player (A2) engages that same defensive player above the waist.

Please learn a little about the game and the terms before you call me out.....you only proved that you DON'T KNOW what a chop block is. The HIGH-LOW block you mentioned is the CHOP BLOCK....

Here endeth the lesson!

Yes it was a cheap shot and im sure in film the coaches will let him know that its an unacceptable play and he is lucky to not have gotten flagged for it. However that hit was very different that the hit on Shy. JRM's hit lit someone up over the pile but it was not a hit with high risk for injury IMO just an unnecessary one.

I agree....but a cheap shot is a cheap shot...and unnecessary....

That wasn't considered a chop block. Tuttle was running towards the ball carrier away from the line and got hit from behind in the knee.

Umm..what I said is my opinion and you have yours. JRM has never been dirty..I will go his record, and believe that there was more to it. We KNOW VT was dishing out some filth. They got called for it a few times.

Ummmm......YOU called me out--remember? And your opinion is WRONG to ANYONE who has EVER PLAYED THE GAME on more than a XBOX!

A cheap shot is CHEAP and DEMEANS the player and the team he represents ANY TIME and ANY WHERE it happens. There are some things on the field that you just don't do...and don't want to be associated with as you play the game. JRM's hit on the OL is in the back and cowardly--PERIOD!

The UGA turd's block on Tuttle was a cheap and dirty shot....although his initial contact was from the side and not the back of Shy's knee (watch the video and you will see that this is true--stop it at the 8 second mark....).

Butch Jones Submitted Clip Of Shy Tuttle Injury To SEC Office

Another poster above shared the rule and I WAS WRONG in a prior post. The cut block WAS ILLEGAL by rule--because it wasn't within the "10-2" area designation and the ball was outside the tackle-box. :salute:

Hahaha you're a gem. The difference is that a high-low takes two players and is never legal, while a chop block only takes one and is legal from the front. I'm sure I know plenty about football from watching it and playing it, you miserable rube. Your "call me out" mentality is ridiculous. Especially when you're wrong and just arguing semantics. Point is, it was a dirty hit, an unneccessary, penalty deserving illegal chop block, that was executed by Kublanow against Shy. You said it wasn't illegal..and a block below the waist from behind, is an illegal chop block. That is indisputable. The fact that it had no bearing on the action of the play makes it reprehensible. I just listed examples of illegal blocks and you choose to hang your hat of ignorance on one of those. Nice work, I'm effectively dumber for, and have wasted effectively 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back responding to a cinder block. Thanks.

Hahaha you're a gem. The difference is that a high-low takes two players and is never legal, while a chop block only takes one and is legal from the front.

You, like many, are confused about the difference between a CUT block and a CHOP block. I guess some coaches use the terms interchangeably, but the rule book makes very clear distinctions between the two types of blocks. One is legal sometimes, and one is never legal.

A chope block--BY DEFINITION in the rule books...requires TWO players to execute....one blocking high and one who "chops" the player down below the waist--hence the name, chop block...

And that's why it was made illegal EVERYWHERE on the field. It is called a "high-low" block...and the term "high-low" is synonymous with "chop block" in the rules.

A reverse chop block is when the first offensive player engages the defender low--and the second offensive player hits the defender high while he is still being blocked low. Our coaches called this the "post and drive" technique. BOTH are illegal now.

A CUT block only requires one player and that is what Kublanow executed....Cut blocks are still legal within a specifically defined area and a previous poster listed the rule that distinguishes where it is allowed and where it is not allowed.

Many get these two types of blocks wrong....But the rule book is very clear in defining the difference between a cut block and a chop block.

Here's a website that illuminates the distinction between the two:

This website gives an excellent illustration and explanation about what is considered to be illegal chop blocks and legal cut blocks. It even has videos to make it extremely clear. And this is at the heart of our disagreement.

Here's what the NFL's new chop block rule really means - SBNation.com

If you would take the time to go to that website--you will see the differences between the two blocks as defined in the rule book. :salute:

Hope Hurd, Kamara and Dobbs watch their knees. UGA players could be diving at them all night. Wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of PFs this game.
