Butch Jones disappointed in Tennessee's slow starts

Playing from behind is difficult and coach Butch Jones would like the Vols to come out strong early in games from now on, according to a GoVolsXtra story:
“I am very, very disappointed with our start. I think that is something that this football team has to improve upon,” Jones said during a news conference on Monday at the Ray & Lucy Hand Digital Studio. “We have to start faster. We will do some different things to try to manufacture that like we do every week in practice.”
It's not how you start but how you finish. We actually seem to play our best when we go down early

Our guys don't really start fighting until their nose is bloody. Even then it usually takes a short field for the offense to get going. Watch all of our games last year and it applies to most of our games. My son wanted to rewatch Northwestern a couple weeks ago and I had forgotten how crappy we looked in the first quarter.

Hey Butch... come on down, jump in the waters fine. In no time you will have all the answers to that what troubles your mind.

While I do commend the team's ability to fight back and find a way to win, I'd feel much better if we just beat the brakes off of someone instead of winning bc of the other team's sloppy play.

Outside the first quarter I never doubted VT was getting an ass whipping. They shot themselves in the foot but we ripped it off and made them eat it.

I don't think we played our best in either the ASU or VT games. With the 4 game SEC stretch that is about to be upon us starting Sept. 24 we will definitely need to play our best for 60 minutes if we want the East.

no worries---app st and va tech weren't that good and it was hard for the players to get up for these games. At the florida game, the players will be really pumped up from the beginning!

1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.

2. Play for and make the breaks. When one comes your way … SCORE!

Do you think other teams/fans cry when their opponent turns the ball over? This fan base is crazy. Was Ole Miss fans crying when Alabama turned the ball over 5 times? Get a grip man....

Butch....upset over the slow starts?

The Sunshine Pumpers need to bombard his phone, twitter, etc...call him a Negavol and remind him UT is 2-0.

Lol...boom! Evidently Jones sucks, isn't a real fan, needs to go pull for Florida or Georgia.

If he leaves now maybe Saban will hire him as a consultant because you know that's where he wants to be after making those comments! :thud:

It's all part of the plan. After jumping out to leads last year only to lose in the 4th quarter, this year they are spotting points to the opposition early and shutting them down in the 2nd half.

he noticed. Hopefully things will improve before we go through the gauntlet.

I seriously question if he understands that the results are driven by himself and the rest of his "best staff in America."

If this team comes out flat as pancakes again for the third week in a row,
In the words of Leroy Mercer "somebody's gonna get their azz whooped",

I have no idea what Coach Jones pregame ritual for the team is but it aint working.

Give them boys some Red Bull and red meat !
