Now that we are having serious questions about the abilities of Butch as head coach, I want to remind everyone that it goes further up the ladder than Jones in terms of questionable decision making. Dave Hart and the university have structured Butch Jones' contract, recently extended, in a manner that guarantees Jones $2 million per year for each year remaining on his contract if he were to be fired. His contract runs through 2021. That means we would owe him $12 million dollars if he were to tank this and we wanted to go in a different direction. The mind numbing stupidity of a deal like this demonstrates that we have a serious problem with those making decisions on the Hill. Who, in their right mind, hamstrings a program by creating such a long term contract obligation with high financial obligations to a coach who hadn't won anything, yet? It tells me two things:

1. We aren't firing Jones any time soon.

2. Hart should be on any hot seat above the one Jones may or may not be on. That contract is completely unconscionable for an AD to make to steward a department. It also means, to me, that his horse is hitched to the Jones wagon. He should not have the ability to make these types of decisions again.

Whether or not we should actually fire Jones is beside the point. The reality that there are people wondering and concerned about Jones' ability with five years left on that albatross is very, very troubling.

I tried to explain this to everyone who is calling for a coaching change. I couldn't remember the specifics of the deal but knew CBJ got a nice extension on his contract.

That's why I believe the assistance and coordinators are more likely to change for 2016 than CBJ.

That may be the worst bending over a coach with Jones' type resume has ever done to an AD. That is God awful. Dave Hart is the Derek Dooley of AD's.

Aren't we paying Dooley through 2016 as well?

I think everyone agreed at the time this would be a 6 year hire pass or fail. The administration chose to gamble on a mid major coach or should I say coaches, since he brought everyone with him. I would say 1 coach in 1000 would be capable of making the jump from mid-major to SEC championship coach in 3 years. The guy that pulled it off would be worth around 6 million per year at that point. The administration knew they would lose either way.

Dave Hart didn't want to pay big money for a "Gruden" type hire. Now he is stuck with an inept coach, an unhappy fan base that is getting moreso after continual loses to rivals and a HUGE buyout. His AD hiring chart must be as reliable as Butch's conversion chart.

I predict Janzek will be the fall guy/scapegoat...and rightfully so.

On the whole, he is decent...but that is because he has a lot of talent at his disposal. He's just too conservative when the game is on the line, and that includes playing the starters WWWWWAAAAAYYYYY too long, and not giving them some rest.

In the 4th Qtr, he always leaves them in, gassed and because of this it shows on the scoreboard. He also likes to go VERY small in passing situations....like we faced in the OU and UF games, in the 4th Qtr. Rather than putting your 310-350lb guys, who can collapse the pocket up the middle, so the QB cannot step up in the pocket (which helps our DE's reach the QB, coming off the edge).

He was fired from UGA for similar reasons.

I could see that happening. Although, the defense has improved...dramatically if you compare it to 2013.

What do you mean by, "goes small"? Are we going to a different defense (zone, man, etc) or using smaller players?

Hart? He kind of reminds me of a mini me version of Frankenstein.

This is why Hart needs to be gone with haste. He's screwed UT repeatedly sans lube during his tenure. He's an arrogant dumbass who thinks he's much smarter than he is. How he's survived the Tyndall debacle is perplexing. A complete embarrassment, along with Cheek.

If Butch is going to have to stay based on $$, then the OC and other must go. Anything other than this scenario and the fanba$e will dwindle and all the $$ that goes with it.

Ummm remember how many people turned down this job before Jones took it? No one wanted the dumpster fire that was UT football....

Haven't you learned from fulmer and Dooley? You don't change an oc or dc when you're on the hot seat. Mahoney is the only one I could see leaving.

Laughable. That's a contract for a coach with a proven track record. We have some true Einsteins drawing up these contracts. Look no further than these fools as to what's wrong with UT football.

Yeah changing the OC and DC in one year works out so well. Can't think of a single coach that it's worked out for when they're on the hot seat. It's Jones's system. He has to be willing to change. From what i've heard since the loss that's not going to happen. He's not changing..

LOL one down year. Get over yourselves. We've shown progress every single year and we tried to tell you in every way possible your expectation were too high this year. People going around claiming we win the NC...ridiculous.

Baloney. Plenty of coaches would take this job, if the right money were offered. This is a premier job in the sport.

I think a lot of coaches may not have wanted the dumpster fire that is Dave Hart.

Fanbase will dwindle? Where's the evidence for that? The money from the SEC network agreement will be substantial even if the fan's revenue dips by 5-10%.

We go 8-4 with a decent bowl and the fan base is just fine. Awful lot of pissing and moaning for a team with 1 SEC loss. We will compete and be in the position to win EVERY game this season. I don't think we win them all, but we will be right on the cusp.
