I am sure I could get blasted by some on our forum, but I am a proud Vol fan who is proud to call Butch Jones our coach. I am not saying that he is perfect, but neither am I or anyone else. He has made mistakes this year and will make them next year and in the years to come, but he loves UT and he loves coaching our Vols. I was thrilled today to receive in the mail my own signed Butch Jones UT Volunteers football! I've added it to my other UT memorabilia and am proud to do so. Go Vols! Beat the Dores! And get a Sugar Bowl bid and a win there for 10 this year!!!!

Sorry the pic is sideways; I couldn't figure out how to turn it? Go Vols!

It's a metaphor for the season. It works.

But seriously, good story and we'll agree to disagree.

Love the cutout with 16 on it.

Not by me brother, im proud CBJ is here. Appreciate how far he has brought the program and excited for the future.

Also proud Dobbs was our QB for 4 years and thankful to this senior class for taking the first step in putting Tennessee back to the forefront of college football.

I am one of those who thinks that Butch has peaked, but I do appreciate the job he's done taking us out of the dumpster fire from the Kiffin/Dooley years and getting us to a better place so I really hope he proves me wrong.

I'm dead serious when I say this. I have looked past many of his odd decisions, stubbornness, and pride. I am thankful to him for how far he's brought Tennessee to the very fringe of being respected and a top contender again. However, it's the relentless coach speak, cliche's, and catch phrases that I can barely endure any longer. There's no need for that. Stop trying to come up with the perfect answer. There's not one. Shoop is getting burned for some of the things he said when he got her but, at least spoke from the heart, with conviction and emotion. It was real! If Butch would just say "we've got to get back to the practice, dig in and try to get better before next week" or maybe "We thought we could do a better job stopping the run but, they came to play and we'll do a better job next week". Just needs to lower his guard and say what he thinks. I could care less about Saban but, if he thinks his team sucked eggs at any point of the game, he's calls it like he sees it. Take ownership as a collective team; coaches and players are all putting it on the field. Butch has put all the pressure on himself.

Is that you dressed up like Peyton holding a fish in the background?

Its just silly to hire a little known coach with no SEC experience and expect him to compete at this level without an extended learning curve. He has done the job on recruiting which is amazing and I am sure he has learned a lot about how to compete in the SEC. Now we just set back and what him grow into the job.

Appreciate what Butch has done this far. Not ecstatic but appreciate it. But he is getting a fifth year so his expectations should rise. Georgia is recruiting well so the east will be competitive again 3 ways. But he has his foundation so we will see the identity of a Butch Jones team in 17. He better not use inexperience at qb as a reason to not make Atlanta next year.

Let's see who else didn't have SEC experience...Urban Meyer, Nick Saban at LSU, Mark Richt, James Franklin, etc etc etc. SEC experience is not required. Being a good coach is. Butch is doing an excellent job. Injuries derailed us of a much better season.

Great post OP.

I'm with you. (90% of Vol fans are)

I would take CBJ over McElwain any day. (Two plays are the difference between FL going to the SECCG and TN going for the past two years)

I would take Dobbs over every other SEC qb any day.

Then again, I've never been a "win at all costs" type of guy.
