Butch: "Jalen intends to transfer"

Does this explain his lazy ass runs the past few weeks?
Was he that bad in the locker room?
I don't get it.
I don't buy the FIFA comment either.

This is the end Jones. Everyone is getting better except for Missouri and at this point I'd worry about Kentucky.

This is just one domino of many I think...

Yeah--how many fumbles did that tandem produce that affected the OUTCOME?????

It just boggles the mind that people cannot see that when they evaluate the aTm game......as good as Kamara and Kelly ran the ball--IT STILL WAS A LOSS--and those TWO contributed heavily to that TEAM LOSS!!!

You have to consider good and bad when you evaluate....Just HOW MANY FUMBLES has HURD had in his career???

Yeah, because Hurd didn't contribute to the turnovers in the A&M game:whistling: Also he spent the whole second half rubbing his lower extremity.

If Hurd asked to change positions, especially to TE where (a) we need quality bodies and (b) his catching and blocking skills would be valuable, and Butch said no, then you really have to question Butch's intelligence.
It sunk in he was too tall.

Whether the hits from our dumb formation did this or not I don't know but he is banger up all over.

He feels he may have outgrown the RB role.

He doesn't trust our coaches though. They lied to him during the recruiting phase and flat out tricker him last bowl game.

He is not a diva. He ain't a choir boy but he's not kelly Washington 2.0.

If there was any trust with our coaches he would switch to TE or LB here instead of somewhere else. Yes, LB is a potenial position that was at least thrown out there.
He wouldn't get coached up or utilized here as a TE/WR either. Look at what we do there for those positions. JS
Good Luck Jalen, wish you the best wherever you end up.

He doesn't trust coaches who continued to feature him at the position over a guy like Kamara who was clearly more productive? Makes sense.

How exactly was he lied to in recruiting phase? Sounds like another example of blaming others for his own poor behavior. Whoever gets him, will get a quitter.

As much as you'd like to see it.... it's not the end of Jones. He had a primadonna quit on him and the team.... period

That doesn't answer my question. Did Hurd not recognize the offense was the same throughout spring and fall camp? It would be fairly obvious you'd think.

Okay....I get it...and don't necessarily disagree with you..

But you obviously are REFUSING TO RECOGNIZE the OBVIOUS FACT that we DID, INDEED, modify this offensive system for last year's BOWL GAME....

I'm asking you--and anyone else--WHY DID WE DO THAT?

We had never ran that formation before the NW bowl game....and haven't run it for one play since that bowl game....And it is--as you say--FAIRLY OBVIOUS NOW...

Are you--or anyone else--completely oblivious to that fact???

My conclusion from these facts is exactly what 74 said last year.....

Hurd may have been a cancer with an attitude--but it appears--TO ME--that JONES made an attempt to appease him with those formations instead of just cutting him loose at the end of last year......

I have NO HOSTILITY towards you at all....but good grief, man--can you not at least acknowledge the STRANGE appearance of that package along with the TIMING of the implementation of the offensive package?

Hurd has contributed a lot to this team. I thank him for that and wish him the best going forward.

It seems like the decision is poorly timed and apparently will not enhance Hurd's resume going forward but that remains to be seen. We will never know the motivation for the move or who is ultimately to blame for Hurd's dissatisfaction.

At the end of the day, it is just really sad to me that a player becomes so unhappy at Tennessee that they feel compelled to leave the program.

All everyone can do is heal up and move on. I hope that whatever lessons need to be learned are learned by the appropriate people....including the coaches.

All in all.....I think HURD's best position if he wants to play in the NFL will be at LINEBACKER....

I seem to remember a bunch of reports and some of the guys who went to some of the camps with him that he would be a beast of a LB.....

:salute:

Hard to see how a guy taking himself out of the game for no apparent reason isn't a disruption to the team. His teammates called him on it and it seems as if, instead of facing it or riding it out until the end of the season, he chose to quit.

This explains why he was absent in the second half and then missing a game.

Makes a lot of sense seeing that he does not fit in Butch's offense at all. He works better in an I-Form offense if he's going to continue to play RB.

I disagree with that. I will be surprised if NFL teams take him as a pure rb. He is a really good player though. He would of made an elite TE or defensive end. Those d lines are definitely more physical than what he has seen in college.

Hurd leaving is his way of making a non verbal statement of displeasure with the program. Good luck to the man, but it will be interesting to see or feel the vibes from this team ongoing.

Speculation on my part. First, Hurd is injured and knows he's going to continue to take a beating in this offense. Not able to pass the NFL physical perhaps? Plus he knows his future is not at RB but WR or TE. By leaving now and transferring, he saves more abuse on the body plus he can fully heal while waiting to tranfer. Once he finds a new home, he makes the move to the TE position and learns it plus he proves to the NFL that he's worthy of being drafted at the position. As for remaining here to do that, I suspect bridges have been burned and the kid wants a fresh start. Again, just speculation, but it does seem like a logical plan...assuming that's his plan. Either way, the kid busted it while he was here. I, for one, wish him a speedy recovery and all the success this life has to offer him. Good luck, Jalen. Pulling for you.

I don't think he was ever injured. Remember, he didn't travel with the team to the A&M game. The other injured players went. I think there has been a discipline problem with this guy...

word I heard is he's hurt and wouldn't play rest of year anyway. tired of getting killed plating in this offense. plans to transfer, switch positions.
