Probably were told not to.

Yeah, I figured that must've been it, but why?

This kid was charged mid February, charges were dropped and reduced in late April and now, in early August, after being cleared by the student disciplinary council or whatever those idiots are called, he's still not back on the team. He's been pretty much completely vindicated yet there's no news of his reinstatement. I don't get it. Doesn't remotely seem fair to that young man IMO.

Also, we have a 2 year trend now of completely dragging feet for kids who have been wrongly accused and who have had bogus charges dropped. First Pearson last year and now Johnson this year. If our players are guilty then suspend em or kick em off the team. If they're essentially proven not guilty, expedite this stuff on their behalf and get em back in class and back on the field.

He wasn't convicted of anything. He was charged with sexual assault and false imprisonment in February. In April one charge was dropped and the other will be stricken from his "record" if he stays out of trouble until early October. Like Pearson, he appears to be the victim of a female making false accusations. I feel bad for him like I felt bad for Von and I don't see how it's fair to the young man to continue to punish him when all other parties have said he's cleared/vindicated.

Unfortunately KB IMO we now live in a nation where each and every action by one is interpreted into how it can be spun politically. You're a black respected jurist, woman comes out of the wood work accuses of sexual harassment, jurist automatically guilty. Any sports figure accused of wrong doing, in deference to Hope Solo, it's not about just guys, you are automatically guilty. White homosexual congressman of a favored party gives job to his hooker boyfriend, he's celebrated! White former governor again of a favored political party accused of rape, it's just boys will be boys and drag a ten dollar bill through any trailer park and chicks dig him. The kids on The Hill on scholly need to understand, they have to dot every I and cross every T when it comes to relationships as they are guilty no matter proven innocent, the politics of our day requires it IMO.

Man, why don't we wait a few days and see how this plays out. The current political environment doesn't allow the fact he has been cleared to be celebrated. I think CBJ just wants to keep a low profile on this type of thing right now.

What is this Berry transfer talk Callahan mentioned? Did anyone else catch that? Said Berry deleted his twitter account but I didn't hear why? Hopefully, it's the medications I'm on after surgery.:hmm:

I told him the social media world had been abuzz with speculation he was looking to transfer b/c he had missed some practice time this week.
I asked him how he handles that and if he notices it. Here is his answer:

"To be honest, we kind of deleted our Twitter and social media apps just because of that reason right there. Kind of trying to focus on the team’s mind set and our goals and not worry about what’s going on on the outside. I mean, we’re just taking it day by day and everybody’s working hard. Sometimes Coach just backs us off. Everything’s going good," Berry said.

How would he have a record if he wasn't convicted of anything or pleaded to anything?

Because he was charged with something.

What most people don't realize is that in Tennessee, like most states, your "record" starts when you're charged, not when you're convicted.

If charges are dismissed, the dismissal goes on your record. To have it removed, you have to separately file to have them expunged from your record.

If charges are dismissed, the dismissal goes on your record. To have it removed, you have to separately file to have them expunged from your record.

In today's legal climate there is a reason for that.

Since plea bargains became so commonplace, past charges are recorded so if a pattern emerges of being charged multiple times, investigators and prosecutors then know it's time to dig deeper.

In order to get it expunged, you might have to show the complainant or a witness lied, or evidence was very questionable.

I don't like the practice. I like plea bargains less. I prefer proof beyond a reasonable doubt. But in an imperfect world with an imperfect system, you have to do something so repeat offenders with slick attorneys will respect the laws, and not just twist them to their advantage.

Have you not paid any attention to this situation? He was accused, and then 2 months later one charge was completely dropped and the other reduced to be dropped altogether if he stays out of trouble for 6 months. His case never went to trial and he as such he was certainly never convicted. Are you just trolling here or what?

There are probably other facts/issues that we may not be privy to that have an impact on reinstatement. It could be from a number of sources: maybe the higher-ups have some issues; maybe there's some other legal issues pending; could be a myriad of reasons why things are held up. Especially when it comes to personal privacy of an individual they can't release info for a lot of things. Just saying....
