I am not smart enough to know how to link the story but today Butch and Derek Barnett, Alvin Kamara, Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Alex Jones went to Chattanooga to meet children that were injured in a bus crash. They met with them at the hospital, took pictures, handed out shirts and signed autographs. They plan to honor them at the spring game.

For all the angst over missing the SEC championship game and the jokes about the "champions of life" quote I think we can all agree that at least on this matter he gets it.

Unfortunately the Nashville radio show hosts and some of our fans will criticize Butch and the players for doing this for these children....................

This is crazy. No one will bash this move...class act. Give credit where credit is due. Quit being dramatic

I'd like to leave Barnett in the room alone with the driver for about fifteen minutes...

I'd volunteer to pick up the pieces, but I'm not sure there would even be that much left.

Can't please all the people all the time, especially the ones on here, And I stand by my post. That's the way things work in the real world. How can one not be saddened by this tragic mishap. One of the children's mother complained to school officials after her children and other children told her the driver would drink ,speed , and cuss on the bus route. This was two weeks prior to mishap. Unfortunately her complaints and letter fell on deaf ears.

I am very frustrated and critical of the job he is doing lately, but I will put all of that aside and say this is first class.

the post was about the good that Butch and "our" Vols were showing toward the kids after the tragedy...not as judge and jury for the perpetrator...that will be taken care of on it's on...and I stand by my statement also...:good!:

GO VOLS...ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD!

We had a bus crash in Huntsville 10 years ago, 4 children died. Lawsuits were filed against the school system, bus company, DOT, concrete company that supplied the concrete on the overpass and anyone else with money. Dont know how they ended up.

In this case, lawsuits will be difficult for anyone except the dri er and company that hired him, because the accident was a direct result of the drivers neglect.

Good job Coach.

A great tribute to the character on this team. The children and families were heartened. Incidentally, the driver has been charged with five counts of vehicular homicide. Nothing but a tragedy.

Butch is exactly the kind of man (not just coach) we need after all that we've been through the last 10 years. He's restored integrity to the program and brought what appears to be a very genuine compassion with him. His players are reflecting that too. Wouldn't care if we never won another NC if this behavior was year in and year out and we were always competitive.

You're gonna get roasted by others for accepting mediocrity. I somewhat agree with you, but others won't
