Sure, but I would give us better than a remote chance that it will be competitive. And I don't see myself as one who needs to be committed...

If the strengths that we think we will have pan out: defense, run game, discipline and execution, it should prevent the game from being a blow out. Will it? Maybe, maybe not, but again, I think we have better than a "remote" chance of being "competitive."

I agree with that Hat but there is going to be some actual coaching going on this season. So, although I wouldn't put money on it I wouldn't be surprised either if the score is much closer as opposed to the last two years.

Yeah and I also did that last year when Tennessee Played UCLA. And that did not turn out like I hoped.

And I believe Stanford's head coach did the same thing to Pete Carroll and everyone thought he was crazy too, but after Stanford won at USC that followin year it did not seem so crazy huh?

It's football that is why the ball is shaped the way it is, it can bounce any given way on any given day, its up to who wants it more!

With this staff I like our chances. I do agree that they may have a slight advantage on talent but not enough for us to get run over!

they won't score 60 on UT, but I could see them winning something like 42- 21 or 34-17 something along those lines. People are overlooking UF's defense. they return all 11 starters and the 11 backups that held UGA to 10, Okie to 14, etc. Their d is nasty.

I think the biggest thing most VOL fans take issue with is how the disassociated discount our defense. Is florida better? Yes. But our defense should be pretty damn good. Certainly good enough to keep the scoreboard from hitting 60 or anything ridiculous like that. Combine that with the fact that we're going to try and play a ball control, move the chains offense - and run the clock, giving florida's offense less chances - and it just seems highly unlikely that the gators will run half a hundred or any of that crap their fans are spewing. We may not score much, but I doubt the end result will worse than it was for 2008 (30-6). It will probably be similar, I'm thinking 28-10 or thereabouts.

You mean the Ole Miss team that finished the year winning 6 in a row, is in the preseason Top 10, and had/has a bunch of first day draft picks on its roster? What does that have to do with a team with no quarterback, a mediocre offensive line, no depth at defensive tackle, and questionable linebackers? Yeah, great comparison.

Let them keep talking they act like nobody has ever won the NC 2 out of 3 years before. Go ask Nebraska or Alabama fans if you can stay on top forever. I mean what happens if world beaters were to lose Timmmmy to injury? crap happens and Fla is on top right now and on paper they should beat UT too bad games are not played on paper.
I also don't understand why Fla fans want to post on here all them time? They prob have grown up in East TN and never even been to UF and think it's cool to pull against the Vols or liked the colors as a kid. If you are a UF grad or a life long fan you are a freaking loser if you come on the UT site for fun. Loser is the only word I can think of to describe it! There is no reason why I would post on a Alabama, Fla or UGA site. I hate all of them and don't care what is going on with their program, fans, players etc the only news I want to hear is that UT has a open date because any of those schools have been put of probation or they got the Death Penalty. This is a UT site what is the fun in reading about a school you hate?
I am not one of these fans that pulls for the SEC I really enjoy when Fla, Ala, UGA gets beat down on National TV during bowls or reg season games. So to say we have no chance is just stupid so go smoke some more green with Percy and stop posting on our site.
I also want to encourage UT fans to stop being so nice when other schools come to Knoxville. They treat us like crap at Fla, UGa and Bama so we should treat them like they treat us then maybe there would not be so many of them up here if it was a hostile enviroment. I mean don't get me wrong I would rather show class and be nice and helpful to someone that is out of town but their fans come up here talk trash and act like they own the place. I will be sure to tell the first UGA fan I see up here next fall to go to hell! Make them feel like they are welcome up here in our great city. That is how I am treated when I visit other schools for games so why not give them some of that great southern hospitality?
I ordered one of those T-shirts about the Beatdown it will go perfect with my Alabama one that reads "waiting on Peyton" Manning wore it to his post game interview his sr year. It really is hard to pick if I hate Bama or UF more? I don't like UGA but the other two are in a leauge of their own. Go Vols beat the NFC north Florida Gators next year! But Seriously Gator fans if you are reading my little rant you suck because you should not be on here in the first place. Can't wait to hear the responses on this one...:rock:

-most uf fans aren't too concerned about losing tim to injury because a.) he can't be injured (sorry, you left yourself open for that one) and b.) our backup john brantley is more than serviceable. he's backup for 2 years, was the talk of the spring and broke many of tim's hs records. so... not saying there wouldn't be a drop-off but i'd be fine with brantley starting tomorrow.
-i grew up in south florida and just graduated from UF. my current job, although i love it, requires a lot of travel and 'down time' with not much to do. i figured instead of joining a gator board and having the same stale convos about how great we are, i'd come on here to have some decent arguments/dissent.
-i don't pull for the sec in ooc games. and i would jump at the chance to smoke some green with percy instead of posting on here.
-i'm sorry for your experiences with some of the gator faithful, but don't be so ignorant as to generalize an entire group of people. i actually let some tenn fans onto my dorm floor my freshman year to use the bathroom after a loss. i love the gators and hate a lot of teams/fans, but i try not to let it get in the way of being a decent human being. which reminds me, some a-hole ruined the shirt i wore to knoxville last year while i was at the KD pre-game bbq. every fan base has a-holes but you don't have to lower yourself to their level.
-thanks for your order and monetary support to the gator nation.

and finally, we're aware that nobody is going to stay on top forever. but we're on top now (as you've acknowledged) and we're going to try to stay there, and i don't think you can blame us for that.
