Anybody doing anything for Burns Night tonight?

I cooked a big pot of neeps and tatties, and in lieu of haggis, made a Scots-ish meat loaf of lamb, liver, leeks and oats.

Got Glenmorangie.

DAMMIT!!! How did I miss that? Perfect excuse to pick up a bottle of Highland Park 25 and soak leisurely in it. Wife understands and approves if there's legitimate cause.

I must say though, I'll enjoy the whisky and even read some poetry... but I ain't eating the g**d*** haggis.

Tru dat, my friend. Trouble is, given the nightly volume demand I can't rationalize the bar tab of really good single malts for daily use (two kids what ain't gone to college yet and all) so I need excuses for the good stuff.

Was thinking that big powerball win was gonna fix the situation but it didn't pan out. I'll just continue to drown those particular sorrows in less expensive blends.
