Fellas I could write reams about the NCAA from close observation over many years, but who wants to read that crap...

I believe college athletics needs a "governing/overview" organization, but the NCAA has gone way beyone it's intended scope (like most bureacracies over time).

I will remind you of one thing when thinking NCAA...Myles Brand is the Pres. Ask us Hooisers how we feel about M.B. and my guess is a negative reaction of 90% plus.
There are many I.U. folks who feel he did a lousy job as the Pres. there...without considering the situation with Coach Knight. He probably got his most support, limited as it was, over that decision, but many of the academics felt the Knight firing was a smokescreen to take attention away from the poor job he M.B. had done and the reputation of the univeristy slipping during his tenure.

The NCAA continues to lack any integrity, character, true judgment, or worthy respect. They are a bunch of money hungry,and power obsessed groups. They make congress look respectable. This whole thing is low, insecure, and stepping over the line.

Hat made the comment last night, that they need to back BB the whole way. And I agree. The staff needs to show they are backing their players in this situation, and others like it. Not matter how petty.

They are asking the players to be sold out for the team, they have to do the same in return. And it looks like they are.

The post you quoted was responding to a guy who was just making a joke. I got confused, too. He said it was a joke just a couple of posts up from yours. The high school is not being asked to repay anything.

The distinction would be that they are not telling a high school kid what he can or cannot do. They are telling a kid who wants to play NCAA football what they can or cannot do.

What is the difference in a basketball player playing and traveling with an AAU team to garner attention of college recruiters and money being raised to pay for those trips and what BB allegedly has done.

hey if he misses a few games Florida will have no idea whats coming when he steps on the field.... if thats a worst case scenario then i won't lose any sleep tonight

Well at least the model for a conspiracy is now in place (not that there's one here, just that we now know the method of keeping players we can't get from playing elsewhere).

Look at all the upcoming prospects.
Find one you know has no interest in your school.
Have a former player/NFL take him on an unofficial visit to any d@mn school in the country.
If he signs with a rival, turn him in for NCAA violation.

I don't understand the issue. If BB had signed with any of the schools visited on that trip, or Florida State (where the money came from apparently) then I see a problem.
UT/Kiffin wasn't even on the radar at that time. This doesn't make sense at all.

I just had a really strange thought. What if BB's hip injury were to keep him out of the first game anyway, and maybe even the second game. If he does in fact have to sit out for a 1, or 2 game suspension would those games count has the 2 games, even though he was injured and couldn't have played anyway, or would they have to wait until he was physically able to play, and then make him sit out a game? For instance, the UF game.

they don't have to release medical info so the NCAA would have way to determine whether he would have played or not.

If he only has to miss a game or two, just do it. Don't get the NCAA watching every move we make like Alabama did. We all know what happened to them.

I like what Kiffin and company are doing. He is showing that he has his players backs. Future recruits will respect what he is doing.

Are you serious? First of all, if we run a clean program who cares if the NCAA is watching. Second, you are ASSUMING the NCAA is absolutely correct in its ruling. Third, and most important, what does that show current players, upcoming recruits and Bryce Brown, that we got your back until the big bad wolf comes around then your on your own. If the Brown's cannot afford to defend themselves against the NCAA then who's going to do it for them and other recruits and families like them? UT/Kiffin and company are laying it on the mat for this kid not because he is a great football player but because they believe in equal protection which evidently the NCAA does not.

UT has to put up a good fight on this issue. If not, they will think the program has more to hide. Also future players and current players are watching this as well. They need to see that UT is backing their players.
