My favorite player since Heupel has been here. A true VFL! I was there when he got injured, my heart was broken for a good while. Thanks Bruuuu!!

I know Keyton had the amazing catch where he laid out for the ball (also had a huge catch on that final Bama drive). I may be mistaken on the timing, but I know Bru went for like 70 yards on a busted coverage in that Florida game himself.
Yeah it was 12:00 minutes to go in the 2nd QTR. Definitely a busted coverage 70 yards inside the 5. I wouldn't say it was some huge play but you needed the 7 pts we got right after.

Not in the same universe as the bama catch.

I wouldn’t put it in that same caliber necessarily either, but that catch and the Pitt TD are a couple huge plays he had in addition to the Bama catch that should be remembered. But the Bama game and the plays made by several guys overshadow anything anyone has done here since at least the Georgia Hail Mary catch.

I don't get it really, is this a new health issue? I mean he played all last year. did he get feedback from NFL scouts that he would never be selected by an NFL team because of the type of injury he had in 2023? what am I missing here with his announcement?

He had very limited NFL potential even without the injury, and he had absolutely none after he got hurt.

He has no burst or explosiveness in his route running, even before the injury, and he showed no "just go up and get the ball" ability in 2024 like he did in 2022 and 2023 prior to getting hurt. His best attribute was blocking, so maybe he'd have a UDFA opportunity if he converted to TE.

NFL teams and he evaluated his medicals and basically he didn’t have an option to even get invited to NFL camps. His lack of athleticism and explosiveness after the injury was apparent, he had several nagging injuries last year as well that he fought through.

Sometimes you just aren’t the same when you rehab from an injury like that.

That kind of Rehab is hard and could certainly take some of the "Want To" out of you. He never struck me as being an all in on NFL or bust kind of guy anyway. He has a myriad of life paths to follow outside of football and would likely be successful at whatever he chooses.

I can never watch that clip too many times.
Freak,

Did anyone ever say anything about why CJH looks to be restrained from going after someone around the 4:22 mark just before shaking
Saban's hand? Is he trying to keep someone away from Saban?

I think it’s just to let people know “hey I’m retiring/quitting due to injury not because I didn’t try or couldn’t made it to the NFL” just sounds better lol
Injuries pile up & take a toll mentally. Sometimes, guys just have had enough. Bru will be a success regardless what he does.

I could see him go into coaching pros honestly. Could start as a scout. You never know

Class Act!!!!!

Not sure what his issues were at the other schools, but he can be a Vol Ambassador anytime imho.

Thanks for giving your all to UT Bru! Best of luck on all your future endeavors!

Ok, dumb question but what does medically retire from football mean when you've graduated from college and not playing professionally?
Is there some perk? Able to get disability or something? I could see if you're in college and you retire and the school has to keep you on as long as you stay academic sound.
Doctors/team Docs probably told him he has some substantial limitations from injuries… he’s fighting against the odds. Better to transition to the next phase of his life
