Auburn proved it is the best in the West, East and Nation! All that stands in our way is a bruised up Bama team, and a terrible Tennessee team! You guys have more spin than a Kerry advisor. Or should I say Shula advisor. Keep dreaming!

Don't think we'll have to worry about him much anymore. Volstorm turned off his microphone this afternoon.

WarEagle76 I understand that every team has bad fans but why don't you take your sorry crap to your own board. YOU are what gives Auburn a bad name.

Even though the smack above by wareagle was very WEAK, I honestly think the Tigers win this one, too... just too much offense and we are offensively impaired right now. Although I love UT, they have been a box of chocolates this year and their best effort won't save them against AU. Auburn is pretty much having it their way this year and they would beat USC or OU given the chance (I for one would love to see it). The only thing I don't like about AU is Tubberville...speaking of which, is it me, or does he look like Ken Berry from F TROOP and Mama's Family?

I'd like to see Bama play Auburn tough for about 2 1/2 quarters so that we can get some good film and hopefully learn something . . . then I want Auburn to reel off about 5 unanswered TDs to blow Bama out!

I don't hear many predicting a Vols win. Anything is possible....I don't think most of us expect an SECC.

Unless Ainge is back of course! :eek:lol:

UT will have to play their best of the seson and Fulmer will have to really play the underdog card (ie Miami, UGA, UF). Auburn will alos have to give up a couple of uncharacteristic TO and give UT a couple of short field drives.

why does noone mention that ronnie brown is better the williams...he is much more versatile...but hey who cares, AU is gonna suck next year

I don't see carnell and ronnie as rattle-a-ble ™. Ronnie is still thinking he's Hershel junior for running over Jason Allen. However, I believe Jason Campbell is rattle-a-ble ™. We must shut them down - under 20 points to win.

I hope we can a least make it a game.I don't see a win without Ainge or Schaeffer in there.I think Clausen might do alright if the o-line can protect him better.

I predict a win.

We play better as underdogs and I think Clausen is going to play MUCH better than everyone thinks.

Apparently I am the ONLY one who thinks as so. Come on guys.

Everyone said we could not beat Miami in Miami last year.
Everyone said we had no chance against FSU in 98 NC

WELL WE DID!

Tuberville is a choke artist and I can't wait to choke him down.

Don't count it a loss yet. AU is definitely the team this year. Anywhere. I don't think USC or OU could hang. But, AU probably already thinks they have us whipped just because they blew us out once. They will have to bring everything they've got to Atlanta, whether we are banged up or not. We have had a knack in the past few years for getting the impossible game and dropping the "given." This game won't be decided by who is quarterback for UT in the SECC. It will be decided in the trenches on the front lines. The AU duo has been stifled before. Campbell is having a great year, but this is his only season of credible or consistent highlights at AU. That only goes to prove that a sub-par QB can trive with protection. If Rick gets that kind of protection, he will look like a magician. Lacking the playing time, if he gets pressured, he'll get smacked around. So would the freshmen. UT will have to come prepared with a game plan they have been void of lately...drive it down their throats.

Defense wins championships. Tennessee's defense is playing much better than the first time they played Auburn.

I'm still not convinced that Auburn is as good as their record... because I've felt that Georgia was overrated this year as well... so the win by the Eagle-Tigers at home does not impress me so much. They've only played 3 teams with winning records so far this season... and only 1 of those teams had a veteran quarterback. However, if they string 3 wins over teams with winning records in a row, then I'll be convinced.

I think the SECCG game will be low scoring and close. The only way the score gets out of hand is if the Vols make a bunch of turnovers or special teams blunders again.

If you go back and watch the game film from the first meeting.... the Vols were successful moving the ball into Auburn territory (5 times) but freshmen quarterback mistakes resulted in only 10 points. To give the contrast... Auburn moved the ball into Tennessee territory 5 times and scored 24 points off those drives, 3 times making crucial 3rd down conversions right before the TD score.

:yikes: To show how minimizing turnovers and playing better defense can make a difference.
'If' the Vols had scored at least field goals on 3 turnovers in Auburn territory, they would have scored 19 points. 'If' Ainge had not fumbled on the 1-yard line setting up an Auburn touchdown and 'if' 3 of the touchdowns that Auburn scored when or after converting a 3rd down conversion were field goals instead and the Vols don't give up the long kickoff return in the 4th quarter that set up Auburn's last field goal, Auburn would have scored only 16 points.

Don't ever count the Vols out!

and that scenario above does not even get into the shanked punt that let Auburn start one drive in Tennessee territory... and it only eliminates 4 of the 6 turnovers.

If the Vols can play mistake free football.... they don't have to be overly extravagant... just play good sound football... and they can beat Auburn. That's how the Vols have been so successful in the huge underdog role in the recent past. The nation acts surprised... but the Vols have enough talent to be able to beat ANY team in the country.... therefore I am never surprised.

However, with some of the boneheaded mistakes they make sometimes... they could also lose to some mediocre teams.... like Notre Dame.

How many turnovers did we have last year at Auburn? I only remember the last one.

2 turnovers in 2003 game. 1 fumble and 1 big interception. The interception occured on the Vols final drive as they were at the Auburn 29 trying to tie the game in the last minute. Clausen threw a curl but Mark Jones fell down and Auburn's Carlos Rogers admittedly was playing lazy defense and found himself in position for the interception.

The big difference in that game was that Williams had 185 yards rushing and Brown had 65. The inability to stop the run and the Vols futile attempts to stop it that allowed some timely throws from Campbell.

The Vols running backs had only 9 attempts in the game for 14 yards... as the Vols scrapped the run in favor of the pass after falling behind 14-0 in the 1st quarter. Clausen completed 30-of-47 passes for 355 yards and 2 touchdowns.
