New and familiar names emerging in Vols coaching search A.S. (After Schiano)

Multiple sources close to the situation indicated Currie’s fate is delicately hanging in the balance, and they also noted Chancellor Beverly Davenport’s chummy relationship with the Vols’ athletic director. Currie and Davenport, per sources on campus, had hands in both Tennessee’s decision last week to publicize false flight paths for a university jet and also Davenport’s decision to favorite a tweet regarding Jon Gruden while Currie, who met with Gruden and had discussions with him on the Vols’ job, also never shot down Gruden talk.

They both need to go. The only way this program gets truly fixed is by burning to the ground completely.

This has been a disaster since the UGA game, these people have no idea how to handle public relations.

This statement in the article alone should have them both hitting the unemployment line. WTF? How can the leadership of a major university go to such lengths to lie to their alumni and think it's ok? My mind is blown after this whole thing.

The national media wants to pin what happened yesterday on VolNation's hopes that Gruden would be our coach and that it wouldn't have mattered who we hired the reaction would have been the same. While we know that isn't true, we can play by those rules if they want to. If that's how they want to view it, then it still wouldn't be the fans fault. Ultimate responsibility would have to go on Currie and Davenport for allowing the Grumors to go on as long as they did. They didn't shut them down, the continually played into them, thus they were the ultimate cause of the problem.

Didn't Brice make the announcement Jon Gruden had been hired, it's a done deal, he's UT's next HC?

If it can be shown that they actively misled or trolled the community in this manner, then they should both be fired with cause.

Edit: After a new coach is hired.

Take out the trash and start over fresh.

It’s the only way UT will ever have a bright future in football.

Nice to know that our administrators were getting their jollies screwing with us. Well....it's not us that ended up looking like morons now is it?
