What kind of impact will it have on the vols if he cannot play. Said it was from a "D" he recieved in one of his classes.

Well it was his last game anyways. Gives a young guy a chance to step in a make an impact.

This thread got me thinking about Bret Smith and I think he's done something pretty rare during his college career. I'm pretty sure, but not 100% sure that he has caught touchdowns from 6 different quarterbacks. Casey Clausen, Brent Shafer, Erik Ainge, Rick Clausen, and Jon Crompton have all tossed TDs to Bret. Swain and Meachem have caught a lot from several QBs, but I think Bret takes the cake.

I haven't done the research to back this up, but if I remember it all correctly, than the above is true.

I think if Smith cant play it could slow the offense. Think about it, Smith does cause for match up problems for teams. Smith usually gets the opposing teams third best CB and that is a match up Coach Cut likes everytime. This could be Taylor's time to shine.

Has anyone heard how his challenge went? CPF was hoping he would make it but said Taylor would start if he didn't.

Seems to be some confusion. I saw one sight saying no and he's not in Florida then I found another that said yes and he has practiced today.

Don't fret when it comes down to it CPF will suspend him for pre game warmups if there is a need for discipline!

assuming this statement is in reference to you thinking that Fulmer doesn't discpline his players strictly enough, i can't agree. how many athletes has he kicked off the team for incidents off the field, the main one that sticks out in my mind is the kid he kicked off the team a few years back and i believe he ended up going to Oregon. his name escapes me right now but i believe it was Ontario Smith???(probably wrong). and i think the punishment he dealt out to Foster was appropriate this season if the situation played out like Foster said it did and he was just breaking up the fight and not the cause of the fight or a part of it

I think Onterrio Smith got thrown off the team for failing multiple drug tests and stealing from his teammates. He wasn't all that great, anyway. Fulmer wouldn't have such a bad reputation for this kind of thing if he had stuck it to a few players sooner. James Banks, Albert Tohenia, and Tony McDaniel all probably deserved more punishment.

i definetly agree about the 3 you mentioned deserving tougher punishment and not getting as many second chances as some of them got. maybe it's just me, but it seems likehe has thrown several players off, although in most cases it has been freshman or somebody not seeing any playing time and then he brings it on himself in other situations. for example, i think Jamal Lewis got caught stealing before he made it to college and we kept recruiting him anyway and i think that might have been part of the reason UGA backed off in trying to recruit him as hard?? i could be way off base on that

the fulmer thing about discipline is certainly a well documented debate. personally, i think in a few incidents he was dead on ie: Ontarrio Smith-kicked off, goes on to Oregon-makes all Pac 10 ; Lynn McGruder-DT, kicks off for multiple violations, plays 14 games on Oklahoma's NC team;; Brent Schaefer-needless to say; I believe Billy Williams was also kicked off-GREAT WR for us. Nilo Silvan was kicked off and later found NOT guilty of assaulting a lady friend-I think Phil jumped the gun on him-but I could be wrong- I don't remember the whole story. and then there are the lingering effects of these fine young men: A #1 @$$ hole of all time-Kelley Washington-should have been dismissed. PERIOD. I cannot stand what he did to our program. I will elaborate if prompted; James Banks-given WAY too many chances obviously; Tony McDaniel-should have served time for assault with a deadly weapon-being as strong as he is, his fists qualify; and the list goes on. he has been stern lately with guys like ray henderson(is that right last name-def. lineman) but i think thats as much a part of Cut firing him up as anything-which don't get me wrong, is a good thing.

ive never been one to rag any coaches but i think its absolute BS that he gonna get to play after making a D point blank plain simple

what i find stranger than any of this is that he was bumped out of his seat on the flight from Knoxville to Tampa because he was on standby....what self respecting Vol fan from Knoxville wouldn't give up his seat so a starting WR could make the flight to the bowl game????:eek:hmy:

can you imagine being that guy????:whistling:

:eek:lol:

i wouldnt give up my seat, its not my problem the guy was too lazy to get his grades in order and get down there with the team.

Jamal Lewis' girlfriend charged him less for a shirt than the tickted price. Both were charged with felonies but later reduced to lesser charges. The charges were not filed and made public until AFTER he had signed with Tennessee. Believe me, Georgia recruited him hard. However, they thought Jasper Sanks was a better running back.

didn't they tell Jamal after the got the commitment from Jasper Sanks, that they would love for him to walk on, but they were not going to offer him a scholly?

I know kids who have lost their lottery scholarships for making below a B average. No sympathy here. The failing grade should have been addressed with up front whenever it started , no?
