i was just checking out the depth charts for the game, and his name was no where to be found. what is the deal with this guy, he showed promise his freshman year. He was hurt most of last year. Should he be a beast now?

Wayward Vol Brent Vinson turns a corner

By Wes Brown • CHATTANOOGA TIMES FREE PRESS

Vinson, considered one of the team’s best athletes, has been closely monitored by Kiffin and former Coach Phillip Fulmer’s staff.
His off-field problems spanned a wide spectrum, with most being classified “violation of team rules.” He has been suspended multiple times, and witnessed an off-campus murder in May, according to Knoxville Police Department incident reports. He wasn’t charged in connection with the case.

sooo is he not starting or what?

It is not known yet. Art Evans is at one CB. The other CB position is the only position on the team in which a starter has not been decided. If he does not start, it is not because he isn't any good. He has been hurt (shoulder surgery, pulled hamstring) all fall and just came back this week. He looked pretty good from what I heard. I think either Anderson or Marsalous Johnson will start, most likely Anderson. I expect Vinson to be starting, if not by the UCLA game, definitely the UF game. Vinson should see quite a few snaps against WKU regardless...

Vinson just got back into full practice about a week ago. I bet he's starting by the UF game, or maybe the UCLA game if he can get his feet wet vs WKU.

With the Hamstring, I worry about his conditioning and the likelihood of re-injury.

Unbelievable. I was going to start a thread called "What if Brent Vinson..."

So, after playing well as a freshman, assuming that he would have had the character and work ethic to excel, could he be comparable to Eric Berry? Could you imagine the two of them back there if he was? Well, he has two more years to prove something. What do you think?

Vinson has all-league/ all-american potential. Hopefully this staff can get it out of him on and off the field.

Vinson has potential to be good, but not Eric Berry good IMO. Berry is a once in a decade player.

I think our best hope for Vinson is that he'll turn into a solid SEC corner, worth of being drafted by the NFL.

Based on his history, I'm not sure he is able to stay on the team for 4 years.

I wonder how crappy D-Mo feels right about now.

My guess is that he wouldn't have cut it with this coaching staff's intensity anyway... Kiffin would be talking about him the way he is talking about Brandon Warren... D-MO won't be sorely missed IMO..

Have you watched Vinson? His freshman year in the SECCG he was impressive. I like his skill set. He's big, fast, and physical. I remember last season when we put him in against Florida. The Gators had been running screens on that side all drive. As soon as Vinson comes in it turned into a 3 yard loss. He's our best playmaker at corner.

I think if he could stay healthy he could be at worst an All Sec Hon Mention.
