The Vols capped off the 2017 season in historic fashion, by becoming the first Volunteer team in school history to lose eight games in a single season. Their .333 winning percentage was the worst since the 1909 team went 1-6-2.

The one word to describe this team? SOFT. There was so much cuddly softness throughout the roster and amongst all the position groups. From QB to MLB, and all over the field, this team played soft.

The main identity this team had would be: HEARTLESS. I don't know if it's a snowflake generation thing, or something with this particular group of "individuals" but this team let down generations of former Volunteer players who left it all on the field. Your great-grandpappy's Vols never gave up, but this team did several times this season.

But hey! Can't blame the players for everything, can we? After all, they cannot help the fact that they are the worst coached team I have ever seen don the Orange & White. That's not their fault -- that's on the coaches.

And please stop calling him "Botch" Jones. It'd be more accurate to call him "B*tch" Jones because all these players played like a bunch of b*tches. Do we still not turn around and find the ball in the secondary? Do we still fall down at the slightest hint of contact and take a sack? Can we still not run a screen pass? Can we still not pressure the QB with four guys?

SOFT and HEARTLESS. You have let down generations of Volunteer faithful. Team 121 should be the last team we ever "number" in this way. Historical failures.

Not enough energy to care anymore.

Currie is the only one who can fix this mess if he makes the right hire.

Vandy beat the crap out of us. They are just plain better than we are and have a good recruiting class coming in. We have lost the state.

Team 121 has been a disgrace to this university. Although Butch Jones takes most of the blame(rightfully so), the piss poor effort by the players also factors into this terrible season.

Hey, at least Bama lost tonight. This is about the only good news I've heard all week.

A team takkes on the character of their leader. Butch left his mark on this team in that area for sure. Should have known what was coming when Butch chose a trash can of all things as the unitended symbol.for this season

Soft? Maybe. Heartless? Possible. Lost? For sure. To me, this team appeared to have no sense of what to do to fix the offense or defense. Watching this Vandy game, the defense looked lost - as in not knowing what to do. The offense certainly had no clue either. This coaching staff was lost. This season was lost. I've lost my mind watching this debacle. Hate that this team set all of the wrong records. It's only up from here!

Drop this team ### BS. This is a Michigan thing that Butch brought to Knoxville. It sucks just like Coach 23.

Sad when the teams looked like men against boys out there tonight - and we were the boys. I guess the effects of no S&C coach and taking a year off in the weight room will haunt us for a while

Maybe new staff can whip us into shape quickly— whole team needs to be running goat trails in Neyland after games like this

One thing I noticed the last 2 games. If CBJ was actually micromanaging and making all the calls, he may have had to. The remaining coaches were no better.

Seriously. There is big time problems in the locker room (or team chemistry if you want to call it that). There has been no "team" playing this year, and actually back to mid season last year. No idea what caused the issue and why it hung over to this season. There may be a few guys that are close, but I think there is no team, just cliques. There has to be more talent on this team than they show.

Sadly I'm still sensing that fans think the problems are fixable. They are not. Not by anyone. For Hart and Jones, mission accomplished. Total coincidence that UT is the team from the East that Bama plays every year.

Hire the right coach and this train wreck can be turned around quickly. There is some good talent on this team , it just needs good coaching. Can't believe we paid Shoop $1M a year for the defense we saw the past two seasons. Unbelievable!

Many in this fan base enabled Botch to coach this year even after a blowout loss to Vandy last year. The same fans enabled him after he proved he couldn't finish big games in 2015.

But stability! Isn't that the Botch supporters chanted for the last 5 years? Even if he doesn't work out, we'll have a loaded team for the next coach.

Fans that enabled the charlatan can step up and take a bow for getting us where we are.

Old jones delivered to UT a number of "Good recruiting classes", just read the threads on the subject. CBJ was touted as one of the great recruiters of our time-all his faithful (mind numb) followers told us so, almost daily. But yet here we are. This next great class of butch's recruits are going to be different from those we've been getting, in what way? I'm not sold. I won't be sold until the end of next season. Of course, if we win even one SEC game- we'll have exceeded this year by a huge margin! and if we win 6 games we can go to the ex-lax bowl. Many will be happy. I am waiting for an SEC championship and/or a NATY sometime in next few years. If the fans are happy with piss-poor, mediocre seasons, then guess what we'll get?......... God- please send us a real coach!!!!

WE have some skill players. What we dont have is a complete offensive line . we dont have a single defensive lineman that would start on any other SEC team and that also goes for linebackers. Warrior is a very good player. Thats about it

Vols fans will quickly want to forget the worst day in Tennessee Football History 11-25-2017.
I'm still trying to process the mess I witnessed today at Neyland stadium against Vanderbilt no less, talk about rocky bottom:banghead2:\

Tennessee may have to end the football program to get any worse:popcorn:

Can we say least wins compared to number of "stars"? Kongbo kind of sums it up....whole bunch of stars and little production. I'm afraid the offense will be just as bad next year with our Oline and battle of QBs since one is inconsistent and the other consistently stinks slightly less. But hey maybe we'll grow out of screens and be able to pass for more than 20 regularly.
