Per Basillio source (apparently on the staff)

After the UCLA game, Dave Clawson went to coach Fulmer and suggested giving Nick Stephens first team reps at QB to get him ready for the SEC schedule. Clawson decided he couldn’t win in SEC play with Crompton. During the two week interval after the UCLA game and before UAB, he wanted to get Crompton ready but was overridden by the head coach. That would have given Stephens 3 weeks to get ready for Florida. 3 weeks of first team reps. Apparently, Crompton (who’s now 108 out of 117 qb’s in the country) didn’t manage his offense well enough for his liking. He was missing signals, running wrong plays, etc….So, Clawson sat back and watched the train-wreck that’s gone on in the last couple of weeks. In other words, Clawson saw this coming and was shot down by the head coach. Remember, it’s pretty common knowledge that Coach Fulmer got between Rick Claussen, Eric Ainge and the coordinator Randy Sanders in ’05. I have to tell you the guy who shared this with me on the condition on anonymity is inside the program and at meetings and is blown away by all of this. He can’t believe the head coach sat back and didn’t try something on Saturday at Auburn. He’s scared for his job but more than that conveyed to me when I approached him in disbelief on this story. This program is in complete disarray.

Wow... :eek:hmy:

I've heard this from more than one source. Frankly I don't think anyone knows what is going on.

Clawson is the one getting hosed in all of this. I would be ok with Clawson staying on as an offensive coordinator under a new head coach.

If this is true, I guess you can't really hire outside of the family with Fulmer. He gives that impression but does not give them the chance to do their jobs sucessfully. Now the facial expression of Clawson in the pressbox at UCLA and the verbal "Wow" at Auburn after JC threw a 3rd and 4 pass 10 yards out of bounds would make more sense.

considering they changed wristbands during the ucla game, and that the offense looks exactly the same as before, what makes you believe that Clawson ever had a chance. fulmer is turning into a grumpy old man.

Why even hire someone with a "new" idea if you are not going to let them do their thing? I think Clawson could very well be what UT needs, but the powers that be won't let it happen, very frustrating

Crompton has proven incompetent thus far, but the difference in the offensive setup and plays is obvious.

i'd say 50/50. there is no motion in the offense, its not spread out, it's the same stuff it's always been. now there is a little sprinkle of something diff. from time to time. crompton makes me sick, fulmer sticking w/ him makes me sicker

You gotta kinda feel sorry for Clawson in this situation because he knows what needs to be done and he actually wants to take the necessary steps to adjust

then you need to start paying better attention. Get Crompton with you and you can both watch game film from the past three years and this year. Then you will see an obvious difference all over the place on offense.

just because an offense isn't working, doesn't make it the same from last year.

*poll: Who has the biggest ego?

1. Urban Meyer

2. Phillip Fulmer

3.Steve Spurrier

4. Nick Saban

5. Les Miles

In this crowd CPF would probably not be the ego hog but think again, you don't exactly have to be successful to be Jerry Jones.

Supposing this is true, how in the hell could anyone on this board or anyone in VOL nation, support Phil??

He was once great. Now he's a disaster.

FIRE PHIL NOW!!

what's diff about it other than the g-gun? it looks pretty familiar to me.

would you say it looks the same as it did at the beginning of ucla? the start of that game, everyone is in motion running all over the place etc. don't really see that now

The use of the TE is a major difference. Where they line up and how there used for more than blocking. Also the alignment of the WR is different and motion. They have used trips several times and not every damned pass is a screen.

The offensive game plan is different but the success rate is the same, mostly due to terrible QB play.

Fulmer is a disaster in every way. The other coaches surely know it, the team knows it, the fans know. Only he doesn't know it. He needs to step down. He does not know how to make smart decisions that help win football games.
