Bruce was on the sports page a about 30 mins ago or so on the animal. He had some good points one point of his best points was that there is no way possible he could call a TO, because Bradshaw had his hands on the ball. To call TO you have to have possession of the ball and no one else. Also "IF" he did have possession of the ball they should have called traveling for him rolling around on the ground. He also said he has been told that he needs to calm down by the refs. He then said that is not going to happen. He said that this is not the Old Tennessee and they are not going to change. (paraphrase) One more thing he said was he was glad people were upset about him getting the T and some being mad at him, because that means more and more people are starting to care about the program. (again paraphrase)

Good to hear. I like the fact that he isn't afraid to go on a local radio show the following morning of a game like that. BRUCE ROCKS!!!

Exactly, the type of coach we need in basketball and football. Someone to light a fire in the players and the spectators.

He also said something along the lines of Bradshaw was so mad right after that call that he tried to rip his shirt off, which I saw during the game and thought was kind of funny, And that he did not think the ref would actually give him a T.

We have definitely gotten screwed the last 2 games by bad calls at the end of the game. However, we should have never been in a position, in either game, to let a bad call cost us the game.

We hit FTs in the Vandy tOSU game and we win both. We only shot 3 FTs in the second half I think for the Auburn game. If we are going to get back on the winning track again we have to first get to the line then hit 70-80% of the FREE throws.

Exactly. You can't hit FTs and you can't win games. Also need to work on our transition D. It was pathetic against Auburn and not much better against OSU.

I like Pearl but the FT percentage is terrible. I sure hope they are practicing free throws today

Bruce Pearl is the only thing that will save UT men's basketball. It's going to take someone who will fight for change. Have followed UT bB since the late 1960s and I could not agree more. Must let conference tv and fans know this is not the "same ole Tennessee" Uphill battle but finally the right man for the job

You know, this is a good thing for all of us to remember. Not making any excuses for last 3 losses, but we have to look at this as part of a transition from UT being complelety irrelevant in hoops to being in the mix every year and being one of the top programs in the country.

These are growing pains, and I think CBP realizes there's a bigger goal than just winning some games during the season. Perhaps we were a bit spoiled last year b/c it happened so quickly. I think we're building a program pretty much from the ground up, and though we want to win every game and look great doing it, it's going to take some time. I think of it as the beginning of a 3-5 year campaign that might dip every now and then but overall is continuing to go up.

The man is an upfront in your face type of guy who is passionate about his sport and his team, you cannot get better than that!

You can't really blame Bruce for losing his cool over that timeout granted to Auburn, that was a terrible call.

I wonder if Pearl leads the nation in Coaches called for technical fouls?

you never cal a technical in that situation, unless it is something extreme, which Pearls wasn't. He said he didn't cuss the guy or anything.

I agree. Let the outcome be decided by what happens on the court, instead of the officials having so much to do with the game's outcome.
