Last year everyone swore our pass d was terrible. In reality, it was rusty against a top 5 passing offense.

This year our pass D looked great (30% of their limited yards came on a luck throw to the RB who was being marketed by a DE), but people are ready to write off the offense... who was rusty against a damn good D who held Clemson to around 380 yards last year.

Everything is fine. UT played a bad game against a good team. If sutton doesn't drop that punt and if Williams holds onto that ball, then it would have been a 21 point win. We just played I characteristically sloppy.

Go VOLS. Make some improvements and get ready for VT.

Are d is better than last year. IMO, the coaches still play too conservative on o.

Good lord are you kidding me? You are trying to put a positive spin on the absolute pile of crap that was laid on Neyland tonight? We got owned in nearly every facet of the game except the scoreboard. Yes a win is what matters. I have always said that. But against a team we were favored to beat by 21 at home, this UT team played like an FCS team.

Oh yeah and Clemson handled App st easily. Did we?

We won't be able to win in the SEC if the oline keeps playing like this. Just facts.

Is being favored by 1 points mean your better than that team by 21 no who made ut a 21 point favorite people in vegas who just looks at the talent on a team and says this team should win by x amount of points they don't consider the heart in these men. now that the first game is over and done with watch ut start rolling.

Very true but something was off on that line tonight. I can count the times I've ever seen our O-Line play that bad. I really REALLY hope it was just a bad night.

Great post.

I'm not worried at all. We played our F game and still won. We can and will play much better.

If anything tonight taught these guys they have to focus on every opponent.

Maybe the best team for the night but you're stupid if you think App State is better than us going forward.

My best comparison to what we saw tonight is North Carolina vs South Carolina last year.

Remember the kick off game last year? North Carolina lost to South Carolina. After the game everyone said North Carolina sucks and South Carolina might be good. Well, after losing week 1, North Carolina ended the year going 11-1 and were an onside recovery from potentially beating Clemson in the ACC championship game. While South Carolina went 3-9 losing to the Citadel along the way.

Thankfully we won the game unlike North Carolina last year. But that should give us a lesson not to overreact too much to what we see week 1.
