No shock here,,,

5. Good Ol' Rocky Slop (Whew!) (9-2)
After the attack on Pearl Harbor, stunt pilot-turned-Air Force general Jimmy Doolittle trained his legendary Raiders for their bombing attack on Tokyo just outside of Columbia, South Carolina, not far from the Williams-Brice Stadium, home of the South Carolina Gamecocks. The fleet of B-25s would bomb the same piece of earth over and over and over and over again, refuel, and then bomb it again and again and again and again, day after day after day. On Saturday night in Columbia, with USC up 63-38, the ghost of Doolittle was heard saying, "Damn, Cocks, that's enough."

He isnā€™t wrong. That was a pathetic effort

That is just stupid.

...while just a few miles from the University of Tennessee, scientists were busy designing and working on the atom bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Moral: it's great to win a battle, but better to win the war. We'll see the yardbirds again next year.

First time on VN since the Columbian Massacre. That one hurt. Didn't see it coming. SEC EAST gonna be a beast next season. Every play counts.

Haha I saw that. We will find out.

He isnā€™t wrong. And that will live in infamy until the end of days.
The good news is I seriously doubt we will ever underestimate an SEC opponent (no matter how garbage they seemingly appear to be) again.

I just hope we donā€™t let them beat us twice.

Har har, Rocky Slop, what genius. How witty and special. He must get all the ladies.

There really is something special about Tennessee graduates crapping on Tennessee to earn their livelihoods. Every school has their John Adams, sure, but Tennessee breeds a special contempt for its own like no other school.

Exactly! The media hates the Vols as do opposing fans. They hate our success and bask in every opportunity to throw shade. I donā€™t understand why our own fans feel the need to jump on that bandwagon.

I really appreciate a great allegorical theme or even a ā€œmoral of the storyā€ piece of journalism. AND Iā€™m not offended one bit by this piece. BUT occasionally a writer tries to hard. Thatā€™s the way this comes across to me. My wife was a professional journalist for 40+ years and authored a couple of books. Iā€™m sure sheā€™d say the use of Pearl Harbor in this wayā€¦is over the top. No question the SC game was an epic disaster by our Vols. Letā€™s leave it there IMO.
