You will likely continue to be disappointed with the NIL era. VFL is not really a credo that many athletes of this era will aspire to. Imagine making “enemies” out of where kids decide to play games while making money doing it.If you leave the program early for another school or another bag, I don’t care if you win a natty in the process, you are not a VFL.
You’re a turncoat enemy. Go on—git.
Change my mind.

Okpara rode out his final two szns and became a fan favorite in doing so. And, if given the chance, would come back for a fifth year, no question. There's not going to be many VFL moving forward in this era. Especially in basketball.
But what about a guy like Okpara? He left to come here and he was obviously passionate about being here
I don't disagree with you on any of that--which I guess also supports what I'm saying. We shouldn't throw that VFL moniker around loosely when guys come here, play a season, and leave (for whatever the reason). Save it for those who stuck it out with TN through and through. You're right, it doesn't matter to them because money is on the table now. They are more than welcome to leave the TN program but they need to leave the VFL tag behind with them when they do. Those who choose to stay and be a program-builder, they'll have my respect. You will likely continue to be disappointed with the NIL era. Actually, he cut his hair after that season and then wasn’t the sameIf I'm remembering correctly, that was Fulky's redshirt junior year, and obviously the peak of his career. He then got sick (covid?) the following year and was never the same. Then, as you pointed out, he was granted another year and was a non-factor. It was really a shame, because he had such an incredible stretch, highlighted by that Rupp romp, during his rs junior season.
I think the VFL era is gone, we are now in the VF$ era. Mercenaries, the lot of 'em.
They are just pawns on the board at this point, all business. Set expectations high and demand performance for the purchase. Boswell is a perfect example. He was a disappointment upon recruitment but instead of dumping him UT decided to mold him into something that could contribute. Once that contribution was real he immediately put it up for sale. The message is get experienced players and don't waste time molding them.I think the VFL era is gone, we are now in the VF$ era. Mercenaries, the lot of 'em.
I cheer for the ones with Tennessee across the the chest every time they hit the floor or field. As I've said many times before, this is the sort of thing that reminds me that it's not unreasonable to ask one's self what it is we're cheering and supporting these days. Twenty years ago, I got it. But now? I don't think I get it so much now.
Since they mentioned gate 23, they have to be talking about football here. I can tell you we couldn't make it to the Vandy basketball home game in March, so I sold them, and had to lower the price a few until they sold for ~$30 each (upper corner row 11)
