I've never posted something like this and feel free to take it for what it's worth...

I was told by a friend there was a meeting with the higher ups and Hamilton regarding CPF's exit. The question was not IF but how to remove a future HOF coach with dignity.

Haslam was not there (out of town) Thorton was there but said he could not support buying out CPF but at this point will not stand in the way.

The coaches on the initial list are:

Pete Carroll (I was told he was promised upgrades in facilities that haven't happened and isn't happy about it)

Steve Sarkisian

Butch Davis

Lane Kiffen

The person who told me is well connected but feel free to take this for what it's worth.

I just thought I would pass along the info.

I'm not suggesting the story's not true, but having Pete Carroll at the top of the list is laughable.

What other upgrades could he want? Not to mention what is already being scheduled over the next 8-10 years? I call BS on this...

I feel like it's safe to say Pete's not going anywhere. The Kiffin thing intrigues me... his name comes up more and more.

Didn't Pete Carroll refuse to even entertain the last NFL offer that came his way?

I'm not calling the story false either, but I can't imagine they would even bother scheduling a meeting without Haslam in attendance. Carroll at the top of the list is quite amusing, although LA Coliseum is a bit of a dump anymore, so you could be right about the reasoning.

I asked the same question about Carroll and the answer was they will at least ask.

I haven't seen anything from JZVOL yet that makes me not believe him. He seems like a pretty level headed poster.

I'm sure Pete Carroll would be a long shot, but it never hurts to have long shots on your initial list on the small chance you get them.

Which is all the more reason why I can't believe that Carroll would have been asking for upgrades in facilities when the facilities here in Knoxville (not to mention what they are planning in the future for Neyland) are comparable if not better than what he has at the Coliseum.

I think JZ is saying Carroll is upset with USC for not upgrading facilities, not UT.

The point was that Carroll isn't getting upgrades which USC promised him. Thus, he is disenchanted and might entertain UT.

To tell you the truth, as much as I would absolutley give anything to have Pete Carroll coach here, I just don't see it happening. Although, it would be an intresting prospect to put in an offer.

Correct. Which is why they would at least see if he was interested and move on.

Also the person who told me this is a clergyman so I have no reason not to believe there was at least a meeting in which these things were discussed.

If it was not him who told me I would not have posted this, just for the record.

i always feared fulmer's departure would be, let's say, less than graceful. don't get me wrong, i think it's time, but it sort of feels like telling your favorite uncle you don't want to go fishing with him any more.

Pretty much no one sees it happening. If he were to consider leaving, USC would break the bank to fend us off.
