Booger McFarland doesn’t think Tennessee has any chance to win SEC East in 2017

"Don’t count Booger McFarland as a believer in Tennessee next season.

The SEC Network analyst said Thursday on the “Cube Show” with Cole Cubelic in Huntsville, Alabama that Tennessee was one of three teams – along with Missouri and Vanderbilt – that he doesn’t believe has a chance to win the SEC East this upcoming season.

“That leaves Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina,” McFarland said.

McFarland’s doubts about Tennessee stem from his belief that the Volunteers have too many impact starters to replace this offseason. Quarterback Josh Dobbs, running back Alvin Kamara, defensive end Derek Barnett and cornerback Cam Sutton are among those gone from last season’s team.

Last season, Tennessee finished a disappointing 9-4 and failed to even reach the SEC championship game after it was widely believed the Vols would compete for a national title."

McFarland was a great player, has a high football IQ and does a good job in his current professional capacity for the most part, but Tennessee certainly doesn't need his belief or confidence to compete for a championship. We have our own.

Count this as a win for us. He's been among our biggest fan the last two years to win the East. Him giving us no chance in 2017 means we're probably a lock to win it now.

After being one of our biggest cheerleaders in 2015 and 2016, he's definitely jumped off the Vol Train this year with both feet. He's saying stupid ish like he wouldn't be surprised if someone tells him in December that Kentucky won the East. lol.

Meh...He may be right, or he may be wrong. We'll find out next season.

I've got no problem with Booger's opinion.

I'll bash Haney.

Cancel the season, no need to play a game now. We should just practice and weight-train until 2018.

I'm don't know how well our chances stack up to the rest of the east, but I'm certainly glad no one in the media is picking us as the favorite. Does anyone know how many times the media has correctly picked the east champion in the past 16 years? I believe it is only 2 times.

So in review: Someone in sports media says we'll win the East, they are a smart, credible source. Someone says we won't, they are a stupid, non-credible source.

Our season will depend on who wins the QB battle and how the winner performs in game situations . Overall, the Vols will be better than expected. The bar is set low.

yawn. this is to be expected, and as of right now, there's no tangible reasons to really debate it.

The Vols lost too much in 2016 to be considered in 2017, I wish it was different however:cray:

In review of what? Hasn't been an issue in this thread, until now.

Agree.
Booger is paid to give his opinion and I respect that.
Haney has to get clicks by

1.writing homer fluff.
2. Stirring sh##
3. Hard nosed reporting and balanced articles.

He's really good at 2 of those things.

Hard to fault an outsider for not believing in UT. Nothing they've done recently should give anyone the impression they will contend....unless of course you are a fan!

Go Vols!
