I don’t listen to Basillio so I have no dog in this fight but I do find it odd that there are a few individuals on here that feel the need to continually defend him. Just seems odd to me unless they are friends of his or somehow involved in his show.

The same could be said for his detractors.

The whole situation started as a rumor. Again, every word of his shows is archived. Do you have a specific complaint about something he actually said or are you obfuscating?

Did he say he didn't expect him on the team or not? Because that's the entire premise on what this thread was started on.

If he did in fact say that, than that is extremely poor journalism on his part, even if he used some sort of caveat like "if the rumors are true." Especially since this guy fancies himself as some sort of insider.

LOL, yall are hilarious. I have zero relationship to Tony, family, friend or otherwise. I do listen to his show daily, so I knew the attacks were complete horse crap. I think one poster offered a level headed response, which was quickly met with more unfounded character assassinations. Why does it bother me? Because Tony isn’t some anonymous personality on a forum. What are you or anyone else here risking with those attacks? Nothing. It’s keyboard flexing nonsense. Tony is a real dude, with real family and real a career. He’s done a lot for many in this community. He’s sustained his deal for 3 decades and is still trying to grow his brand. So, when folks show up in the cloak of anonymity and throw out unsubstantiated BS, yes, I see that as a problem.

That’s just an example. Tony has had several in depth interviews with (for example) Dale Jones and a pile of other former Vols. Heck, he used to have Tony Robinson on regularly. He also did a weekly segment this year where he had a different active baseball player on his show. Trying to dis Tony only makes you look uniformed and petty. But hey, you do you.

It just means I have an opinion that is different from yours, no more no less. Carrying water for him doesn't make yours anymore valid. The guy has been around 30 years. What did he do? Basilio says there are issues and he doesn't expect him to be with the team this year.

I don't know what Basilio actually said, because there isn't a screen shot or a link to what was said.

However, IF Basilio said that, then that is in fact poor journalism. I don't care what other people in the media say. I would gladly call them out if they made the same statement.

If you are making that sort of statement and speculating on the likelihood that it happens based purely on rumors, then it is poor journalism. Plain and simple. Stating "I don't expect him on the team" implies you have inside knowledge of the situation.

I think BYU was even worse because it followed-up that embarrassing loss so there should have been "fire" to get the W. We also had a shot to win and blew it by giving up a long bust play that allowed BYU to tie. We had all the momentum in that game...

SEC programs do lay eggs against G5 squads though. Tennessee just hadn't done it since 1996 Memphis (yuck). People forget that Alabama lost to the likes of UCF, Northern Illinois, UL Monroe, Southern Miss (more than once), and Louisiana Tech (the last being the craziest because Alabama won the SEC that year).

I disagree. I know Pruitt had some winning seasons but his schedules were easier. There are many games with Pruitt that I consider the worse performances in Tennessee football that I have seen:

1. Georgia State
2. BYU
3. West Virginia in 2017 (Just the lack of competitivity of the team)
4. Kentucky in 2020
5. Vanderbilt in 2017

I kind of felt like the West Virginia game was a sign that Pruitt wasn't going to work out. To be that unprepared to play in his first ever game was telling.

Nothing on any other social media even mentioned it. The 247 site had not referenced it. This site hasn't referenced it. Magically on Monday, Tony B drops his story practically plagiarizing what the anonymous poster on the VQ said. Next thing you know, all out chaos. So, there is nothing unsubstantiated.
