Lots of people have said they won't support football that's a pro model because as employees the student portion of the equation is hard to legally justify.The NCAA could have avoided all of this if they just made athletes employees when it became clear you were going to have to pay them, rather than outsourcing paying players to third parties. It's greed that will bring about the fall of this great sport we all used to love. The hubris of the ones profiting off of the enterprise. And this revenue share isn't enough of a correction to make any meaningful difference.
If the players are pro athletes employed by the school, why should they be students? And if they are employees, why should they be limited to 5 years to play? Are ALL the athletes at the school employees who the school needs to pay?
There are big issues with employee status.
