Hubbs addresses Boo very 1st question.

THIS is how its done with class. Take time (days) to gather and vet information from real sources inside the team and coaching staff. Speak only on FACTS you know to be true...don't start or spread unsubstantiated rumors or secondhand (or third, fourth) guesses as to what may or may not be the actual truth.

It makes no difference whatsoever that Basilio was correct about SOME of what he was spreading. None. There are ALWAYS small disciplinary issues within ANY football team, and even conflict directly between players because its an ultra-competitive situation for playing time. These things are supposed to be handled IN HOUSE within the team. 99% of the time they are. Hubbs even made a point to dispel one of the rumors about Boo having issues or even legal troubles back in Chattanooga. This is responsible journalism.

Basilio and Adams along with all the other jacklegs who would absolutely tear this program to shreds and cost CJH his job if it meant they got even 1000 more subscribers can kick rocks. They are selfish and irresponsible. Zero class. Adams is actually much worse than Basilio honestly because he has tried to wreck this program for decades. I hope he is as miserable as he seems to be and then some.

Hubbs wouldn’t have broke the story until it was a story. This would have remained inside the complex until the coaches wanted it out. That’s the problem here.

Edit*- It’s already difficult enough to recruit and keep players basically on 1 year deals. The last thing any University wants is a podcaster spreading misinformation and rumors that should remain inside the building.

I don't think either Tony or Hubbs (definitely not Hubbs) broke the story. I think the whole thing started via rumors on VQ boards, which is also probably where Tony picked it up.

Keep in mind he’s not an investigative journalist, he is just a fan with a radio talk show for entertainment, that’s it. Just like we can all say most anything we hear, others can too.

Regular reader, but not a poster to the forum. It’s not Tony’s responsibility for anything in this situation. This is a classic example of shooting the messenger. First, the criticism started out about the story being false. Now that we know there’s validity to the story you’re blaming the reporting on what’s out there. As Tony would say, “he didn’t do it.”

The criticisms of Tony on this form are tiresome, unmerited, and quite frankly sophomoric. Tony has one of the most content rich shows in the nation, when it comes to coverage of a single, specific college sports team. Do you know who loves Tony Basillio and gives him more time than any other radio show? Coach Tony Vitello. Vol baseball legend Chris Burke, is a regular on the program. He has quality guest such as Watson Brown every week, as well as numerous other national media representatives who bring great info. He allows callers some leeway that other shows dont.

Having listened to Tony for 30 years, this is a guy that built a show completely, 100%, from nothing, and developed a grassroots following that has grown into tens of thousands. He’s provided unmatched coverage with post game shows that have run until 5:30 in the morning. He’s recruited VFL Will Heflin to run a post game baseball show.

He relies on ZERO corporate funding to support the show. He’s active in great causes for our community and provides a voice for the common fan.
Whether you like it or not, he absolutely, 100% has sources inside the program, and he comes up with great information time after time. These degrading comments about him say more about the people posting than it does anything about Tony Basillio.

Dont like it? Dont listen, but keep your unfounded criticisms and lies to yourself.

Precisely, how, other than bothering some people that he talks about something they don't know about. I'm certain those involved aren't getting their info from him and those not involved can't "make it worse."

Seriously. It's like old men yelling at clouds in here about this. Basilio is not that good nor powerful. If you get worked up over his stuff, YOU'RE giving him too much credit. He does what he does and it's entertainment, not critical info.

He got this one mostly right, he often gets things wrong. He doesn't "damage" anything.

I listen to TB from time to time and enjoy his 5th Quarter more than the official post game show.

That being said, I can assure you that nothing he says or does influences the decision making by our players or staff. That is ludicrous.

Based solely on things that have been confirmed (missed days, radio silence, etc.) the margin of error for Carter to be on this team is very small at this point..,and IMO he has never shown the maturity, humility, and/or accountability to recover from something like this…at this point I’d be willing to bet there’s 0% chance he’s on the team by the end of the season and (maybe) only a slightly higher chance that he’s on the team at the start of fall camp

Having had time to digest all of this information, here's how I can see it being handled: assuming he gives an apology to the leadership council and the team, he will start Fall practice with the team with the understanding that if he even sets one toe out of line, his a*** is grass. I mean if he's even 1 minute late to practice, then "bye bye, see ya later." If he even gives the impression that he's lollygagging in practice, same thing. Odds are he won't make it through fall camp, but at least then you can say you put a "pathway" in place for him to come back and he didn't hold up his end of the bargain.

My thoughts exactly and what’s the point in wasting resources on a player you know likely won’t be here next season.

I’d rather let Kaleb Beasley or another young DB take their lumps this year.

Heupel risks all he has built letting Boo back in the building imo. Especially after what Nico did to these players and our program.

That's Heupel's call and my legs are hurting from just thinking about the "Come to Jesus" running and proving himself to his coaches and teammates that may come his way.

We can hope if he does come back he's a better teammate and better person for the experience. No ill will toward Boo, but the team has a job to do and rules to follow.

Heupel has dealt with Boo’s infatuation with Colorado all along. I think this is the straw that may have broke the camel’s back however.

If Josh allows him back, he risks losing the entire team. He didn’t let Nico do that, why would he risk it for Boo? Plus, Boo will only pout & complain about not catching 50 passes this season (he chose not to work with the QBs this summer) and most likely play this card again next January, etc.

Last, Boo evidently hasn’t been returning calls from the staff. Josh has to get that outta his program. Nico did that too. It’s a terrible lack of respect not to return a call from a party responsible for a 5 or 6 figure check MONTHLY coming to you. Just a “I’m fine but need some time” isn’t too much to expect.

If Josh allows Boo back, all future “boo eruptions” are on him now.

Agreed. I think he's most likely to pursue walking on at Colorado or UCLA (why else would he be in California?) but even if that's not an option for him, I don't think he has what it takes to regain the respect of leaders on the team. This is all so stupid. He just got a raise and was less than 2 years away from being a 1st or 2nd round NFL draft pick. All he had to do was do what everyone else on the team is doing. Now he basically has no chance of being a first rounder regardless of how well he plays going forward because he's proven that the red flags that emerged in HS are legit.

The kid just does not know how to make good decisions. Not all his fault (parents) but he's a legal adult now and must figure it out on his own or join the ranks of Johnny Manziel, Ryan Leaf, Justin Blackmon, Janoris Jenkins, Dee Milliner, Peter Warrick, Dwayne Jarrett, Mike Williams, Charles Rogers, etc. as super talented guys who never reached their potential and had short careers because of poor discipline and poor decision-making. There are literally hundreds of examples like this and thousands more that the public never knew about.

The body will only take you as far as the brain and heart allows.

UCLA released their roster at B1G media days at 105. I'm not sure if that's official or changeable but they were at 105 a few days ago.
