Boo Carter (Status, Rumors, Updates)

I guess we can hope, but if what's been reported as having taken place, I can't see a way he's a part of this program much longer. He's had his demand met very recently and now this? How do you trust this kid and his family with being a major part of our team this year? What message is being sent to the rest of the team? You know they're watching this. Heupel better be proactive and smart about this. The fact that something like this is happening on the heels of Nico makes me wonder about our so-called "culture".
The culture is still relatively new and Heupel is relatively early in his career as an elite HC. It has been said he has a council of players who have not been pleased with Boo but that doesn't mean the same council hasn't called out other guys in a similar way and had success. We just wouldn't hear about that. It's likely other guys have had criticism too and the proof of a culture's success remains in the field results. Heupel has been winning.

I'm seriously concerned about Pearce apparently "dialing it in" and getting away with it most of the year. That we couldn't correct that internally is a control problem for staff and team leadership.

Along with everything else on Josh's plate, getting a system in place where guys motivate each other, hold each other accountable, and pick each other up or kick that butt when needed is essential for a team's success.

The culture is the prisoners are running the prison, time to bite the bullet and move on to anti trust, collective bargaining, buyouts or whatever thats going to bring in enforceable contacts and hold these kids to their word and schools also.
I don't even care about recruiting classes anymore.
I don't see how anyone is willing to give their money to collectives now, I never did because I saw this coming
As for Boo if he's not showing up kick him off and move on

I don't believe this is a money/NIL issue. There is some smoke that he was confronted (got his tail whipped) by some of the players on the team after not falling in line with our culture and that might be what led to him going MIA.

His mom had a post on Facebook a week or so ago asking how coaches handle issues among players in the locker room.

We will see what Heup does but it feels like it's at a point where bringing him back could destroy everything he has built. I know there are mixed feelings about Boogie Bentley/Talkin Vawls but he has a relationship with Braylon Staley's dad and he told him that Braylon said this is the closest team he's ever been apart of.

I'm from Cleveland, TN and Boo is one of my favorite players on this team, but I just don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze anymore. We all remember the Jeremy Banks saga from the 2022 season.
This makes the most sense to me. Its one thing if the coaches are not happy with a player. It is a whole other, much worse, situation if it is the team who is getting on to a single guy for not putting in the effort.

Probably best to part ways if this ends up being the real story. It would also really hurt Boo's odds of being a key contributor anywhere else as even folks like Dieon want players who at least show up and put in the work. He isn't good enough to just put on his jersey and win a game, even in the Big 12.

As crazy as it sounds I think the last six months shows how healthy the culture is. The teams that win championships are led and policed by the players, not the head coach. It sounds like for the first time in 20 plus years we have a group of guys that aren't going for this crap anymore.
So he's a locker room cancer and players called him on it, probably told him if he doesn't want to be here then leave

The Jennings situation and numerous other "trade me" situations and the clown show that is NBA "I'm not happy" situations will tell you quickly that creating contracts and dealing with a player's union isn't all that smooth either.

Also, with an upset player doing the bare minimum which apparently is Jennings' plan under contract, "just kick him off" is called breach of contract.

I hope they did whoop his tail. Also Boogie Bentley sucks!

Who remembers this?

This week’s edition of Sports Illustrated reported that Sanders had no interest in college and that Florida State officials turned their heads when the All-American cornerback didn’t attend class last year.

But folks insist they wouldn't support college athletics if the players didn't have a connection to the school.

It's been a joke for decades not just at FSU but at places like UNC with fake classes and college football has only grown in support over the years.

People don't care, really, as long as they can't see how the sausage is made.

Amazing that got buried.

There are 105 guys on the roster. You're never going to have one made up of 100% team first guys, especially in an era where guys can get paid within the rules and transfer without having to sit out.

Personally that seems like a good indication to me that the player's council evidently wants Heupel to do something about Boo.

No but we can start with 105 guys who haven’t matriculated at 3 different HS
And who have a mom that has allegedly (I’ve only seen this one instance) made an ass out of herself on recruiting sites. That’s a pretty low bar to clear.

Kirby just had two more players arrested on charges way more serious than this, you think he’s going to change how he evaluates recruits?

The staff does the best they can, they passed on recruiting a few highly ranked players in the last few years because of concerns. When you factor in family influences, hangers- on, and the $$ sometimes you just can’t fix stupid.

The heat is absolutely on Kirby to clean this **** up. He brought a lot of Goodwill with the two titles but people around the program are not happy. Not lose his job unhappy…but they’re tired of the jokes.

Y’all are freaking out over nothing. The kid misbehaved. He has no leverage. No way he’s going to opt to sit a year. They’ll suspend him and he will be back.

You don’t think that causes a rift in the locker room? The whole team busting their ass in the weight room and preparing for the fall and he just runs off and says screw you guys? No chance that doesn’t come back to bite us later

Why? He still hijacked information off of a website and passed it off as his own and referred to a VQ poster as 'sources'. But carry on being Basilio meat riders
That’s all he’s ever done, scan forums for something and pass it off as something purely attributable to his genius/super secret sources. I’m still amazed that Tony V puts up with him, but I’ll defer to his judgement and I’m sure it serves its purpose for the program.

Why do we want a paid employee that has to be suspended, and can’t self motivate because he wants to be somewhere else? If he wants Colorado then give the money back and bon voyage. Football is hard enough without a malcontent.

Take it up with the people in the know saying otherwise

He is not a grad and the portal is closed until December. He can’t transfer. The BYU rapist QB was able to enroll at another school and avoid the portal because he’s a grad and there’s no rule against it.

I still believe this is being overblown, but if it’s not then we can very well bench him and he wouldn’t be able to play until next year after he transfers.
He has no leverage here.

You recruit for on field talent primarily and that doesn't always come wrapped in a pretty package.

Kirby has issues, Saban had issues, Meyer had issues. Winning covers a multitude of issues.

In the end you hope to have coaches and a team culture that basically says:

Look, you're gifted and can make a fortune with these gifts if you can just keep your nose clean enough to not get arrested and not let your head get bigger than the stadium. Lots of guys get rich doing this and you can too but you can't be too big of an a$$ here or anywhere else and make it.

What Heupel doesn't have yet is the office full of rings and pictures of multiple Hall of Fame guys he coached. If he can get a few more wins, more guys in the league, and some hardware for his office, he'll have an easy time riding herd on the misfits that are really talented.
