Bombthreat in Humanities Building

We had a spat of those when I was in school there. Coincidentally, they were all about the middle of the semester. And they were all in Humanities.

They are doing the right thing, of course, in alerting people and clearing the building. These days you have to be cautious and everyone ought to avoid the area.

But as bomb threats go on a college campus, in my memory, NONE of them has ever turned out to be real. Anybody remember a real one?

I hope Humanities doesn't blow up. That would kinda suck. Although it might give them a reason to re-build it and make it look less crappy.

I haven't heard anything since then, they said that they would send another text message when everything was clear.

If Humanities blew up I would only have 2 classes out of my 5, and there is definitely no where to put those classes, there aren't enough rooms as is.

Just left the building about 20 minutes before the text. There were 4 cops outside, but I thought they were there for the people holding the "SHAME ON JOHN PETERSEN" sign under the torch bearer.

Why do ppl always threat to blow up humanities...it seemed like every semester someone would call in bomb threat there. It is an ugly building anyway.

If they really wanna scare people on campus they should threaten to blow up the box seats at neyland stadium.

I don't think the entire time I was at UT that anyone phoned in a bomb threat, and frankly I was shocked considering how many parties went on every night (meaning people were getting drunk and not studying). That always seemed goofy to me, if you can't stop your partying for even one night, you've got a problem.

very true. i attend Northern Illinois, last semester there was a threat that someone made about shooting up campus during finals week. they canceled the first day of finals as a precaution. Better safe than sorry, especially since the university knew about it. hope everything is ok at UT

When I went to UT, there wwew bomb threats on the Humanities building every day for a week. By the end of the week, we were holding class in the building, anyway. A week or so later, they caught the guys that were doing the threats -- they lived a few doors down from some of my friends.

I was P. O.ed about signing day too but it's crazy to threaten to blow up a building because of it.

We had a couple when I was there and it is amazing that both were in humanities. Both times were during exams and my professor dragged the class outside (it was spring semester) and proceeded with the exam. Some complained but the professor didn't care. I thought it was kinda cool being outside. If it had blown up we would have had a good view.
