Remember before the season started when Pearl said he asked Jim Boeheim to schedule and Home-and-Home with Syracuse? According to Pearl, Boeheim snorted something like "Yeah ... we'll come to Knoxville ... in 2020!" At the time, I thought that was one of CBP's funniest soundbytes.

This morning I woke up to Sportscenter with none other than Jim Boeheim whining and crying about how he couldn't believe they didn't get in the NCAA Tournament.

Hey ... maybe they should have scheduled another tough team ... like Tennessee maybe ....

JB has nobody to blame but himself.. He hardly ever leaves the state to play non-confrence games.. And when you lose one to Drexel, a bubble team at home, it doesn't really help your case.

Is there a place like youtube or something that has a collection of Bruce Pearl soundbites... like the rant he had in memphis and Pearl chanting before the Florida game that we were going to kick their a**...

I don't know, but there should be! Pearl's the King of Soundbytes :)

I just remember hearing this on the radio.

I have never liked JB before, but now I really despise the guy. He has been crying about being a bubble team since before the Big East tourney. I didn't know anything about him saying that to Pearl...that just makes him even more of a joke. I heard him in an interview today, and the interviewer told him they didnt get in because they didnt play anybody, and he got mad and rattled off a bunch of mid-majors they scheduled this year and in the future. BFD, now I know he is too scared to play any good non-conference team. I hope they get blasted in the NIT.

Here's the deal. Syracuse USED to play home-and-homes against non-conference teams. Most recent in '03 and '04 with Missouri and Michigan State. I even recall a UT home-and-home in the early 00s.

I have no inside info but my guess is that the non-conference road games stopped when AD Jake Crouthamel retired after the '04 season. To replace him SU brought in some hot-shot assistant from USC, Darryl Gross. This guy only cares about money. He wants all the games at the Dome, where has turned games into a 2-hour commercial, added courtside seats for $5,000 a game, and raised ticket/parking prices. My feeling is that he has put no pressure on Boeheim to leave the state of NY because they see no financial gain in going to play a Tennessee or whoever on the road. This goes hand-in-hand with Boeheim generally focusing solely on conference play.

The non-conference schedule did not lose them this bid. That scumbag committee director Gary Walters has only incoherently mentioned that the unbalanced BE schedule lead to their undoing. It's not 'Cuse's fault that they were slated to play last year's top two teams (UConn and Nova) twice. It's not Syracuse's fault what happened to Wich State (a top 10 team at the time of our 1-point loss), Drexel, UConn, Oklahoma State (again, close loss at MSG).

I know from covering the team and watching the team that Boeheim can be a whiny guy. He generally uses the media as a tool for his benefit, but hates them at all other times. But I'll say this. The guy has been at Syracuse for over 35 years. He has no intention to leave and has never thought of leaving. I appreciate that kind of loyalty. All the guy does is put the team in position to go to the NCAA Tournament every year, not bad.

(A funny side-note. One of most famed student interviews was getting to interview Jake Crouthamel when he was AD. I tried to lighten things up with a funny anecdote. I mentioned that my mom was a UT alum so I grew up a Tennessee fan, and that I was at the SU-UT game in Knoxville. He then went off on a diatribe about the '98 game and the pass interference call, saying that Ron Kramer the SEC Commish called him and said it was a terrible job by the officials bla bla bla. Needless to say the interview didn't go terribly well. :eek:lol: )

Since Boeheim won the National title he thinks he should get total respect and he should get in the Tournament on what he has done in the past. Boeheim needs to learn and he did this year is "What have you done for me lately"!

Come on. I don't even think people had them on the bubble. Most, including me, assumed they were in after beating G'town. That said, they are reaping what they've sewn.

On a side note, the Big-10 had no buisness getting 6 in the field this year.. Illinois has NIT stamped on their resume. And Purdue is not far behind..

agreed. but i've said this a lot lately - all bubble teams were relegated to that status because they had serious deficiencies. a case could be made for and against each of them.
