Bobby is one of my all time favorite Vol player. He pretty much, single handily beat Penn State after Paterno made a quote that " We're gonna go down there and show them southern boys how to play football". Thanks JoePa…………...hope that crow tasted well.

I will never forget that Penn State game. Some wise acre Penn St. fans were ragging UT fans before the game about not giving them tickets and laughing at "Southern Hospitality" like a bunch of wise azzes. We didn't have much offense that game, but Bobby Majors won the game with his punt returns and grit. Vol defense stopped them cold.

I remember sitting on the 2nd row in the end zone of Tulane Stadium and watching Bobby Majors bring it to the house against Air Force in the Sugar Bowl. That 1970 team was fabulous, just had a bad day against Auburn, otherwise a perfect season.

Enter Pat Sullivan and Terry Beasley. I remember that freaking game. I was stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia which is literally right down the road from Auburn. I couldn't believe when I saw the score. We had a great team that year, but is seems that historically, UT has had lots of trouble with pure passing teams, i.e. Spurrier's UF, teams, and of course, the Sullivan to Beasley connection.

Was it in 1973 that he returned to Neyland in a preseason NFL game between the Browns and Falcons? I was there but I don't remember a lot about the game. I could be mis-remembering. I think he was returning punts.

Me too. I was at that game with my dad. Bobby and Covrad Graham broke their back.

I was at that game (Legion Field). They also had a wide receiver named Thomas Gossam who killed us.

“With Fulmer hiring Pruitt, it ends a trend of UT hiring offensive coaches.”

Jones and Dooley were quite Offensive!

Interesting that Bobby Majors roommate was Coach Fulmer who wrestled away brother Johnny Major's Head Coaching position in a pseudo hostile takeover.
