Bobby Labonte stays with Petty...

I was not only hoping BL would go to RCR, I would have bet some of JOEYSALLVOL'S money on it.

A sad way to end what should have been an outstanding career IMO. He has had much success, but could have won several more races at a competitive shop. Have to give him props for loyalty.

I'm holding a grain of salt to it until Bobby himself confirms it. I'm disappointed if it's true but I like Bobby and respect him whatever his decision. I was so sure that he was following General Mills to RCR but I still support and respect Bobby whatever he decides.

Couldn't have said it any better.

Shocked though.

Bobby is always welcome at RCR. Hopefully he's still considering his options, he said last night that it hadn't come from his mouth.

It could be that Robbie Loomis might have been causing a stir to try keeping Bobby at Petty. I was greatly relieved when Bobby indicated that he had not yet decided anything.

Any new news on this? Things are pretty slow over here and internet access is at a premium. Any info would be appreciated.

heres the latest thing I could find USAF:

from #43 crew chief Jeff Meendering: "As for reports that Bobby Labonte has signed with the team, I don't think that anything is set in stone there. They are getting really close on working everything out. But to say anything is set in stone might have been some speculation. When everything started blowing up with that story, the guys on our team never paid any attention to that. We have really good management here that takes care of that and allows us to go to the track and race. I still feel like Bobby will be here next year, but I know they're not totally done with it. I think they're getting close, though.

Bobby's new contract was offered last November and after six months,he has still not signed it. This leads me to believe that Bobby might be weighing other offers, most likely RCR. I sincerely hope that is the case.

What's done is done. Bobby finished 11th at Michigan but 39th at Sonoma. I just hope this won't happen every week but given the equipment Bobby is driving and that the past two seasons are nothing to write home about, that's probably what will happen. I still support Bobby and wish him well but I'm also realistic.
