it's being reported here in Charlotte that Bobby Johnson was at Duke yesterday, with Karl Dorrell, interviewing for the HC vacancy in Durham.

anyone want to opine why leaving Vandy for Duke would be a good move, o/t money? Surely his prospects have to be better than what i would consider a backward move.

he's at least competitive at Vandy in the SEC. Duke is not even competitive in the ACC.

Vandy fans are so fickle. They complain about a non-winning program yet last I checked 85% capacity was what they were seating at their home games. Pathetic. That could be a reason for him leaving.

which is about 80% more than what Duke draws.

it's not even close in facilities, fan support, stadium etc....Wallace Wade Stadium is a joke and if there is ever a school that football is in the back of the bus, it's duke.

You have to wonder if at some point Johnson doesn't get a little tired of the fact that he doesn't even have an AD to report to at Vandy.

After his success at Furman and the improvement at Vandy, Johnson may be the type of guy that Duke throws money at in hopes of elevating their program to some measure of respectability. I really don't see it, but maybe that's why I'm in the insurance business. :dunno:

I think Bobby is a Carolina boy and probably enjoys the idea of getting back to home. He is probably confident in the idea that he could get a similar job done at Duke as he has at Vandy.
