Nice guy, but he hasn't been relavent since the mid 90s.

The College of Charleston is in the Elite 8 in the NIT.

Playing Wichita State tonight to get to Final 4.

Relevant? Bruce Pearl wasn't relevant either until UT put a huge program under him.

Cremins was money with Georgia Tech.

Cremins had a host of players that went on to have successful National Basketball Association (NBA) careers. First there was Mark Price (the Cleveland Cavaliers) and John Salley (the Detroit Pistons) in the early 1980s, then Duane Ferrell, Tom Hammonds, Dennis Scott, Brian Oliver, Kenny Anderson, Jon Barry, Travis Best, Stephon Marbury, Jason Collier and Matt Harpring.

Not on a list of coaches I'd want initially....but not a bad choice if we can't get who we want

Pass. The reason you see the top 5 listed is because they said they would listen to our pitch. They also know that TN is a great state to recruit baskeball players to add in with their personal recruiting territories.

Would rather have Mooney, Smart or Williams over a retirement ready guy.

He already has a court named for him in Atlanta, probably has enough money and already had much success in the NCAA's and the one of the most prestigous basketball conferences. Charleston has to be relatively low pressure job where he competes annually for the Southern championship. What the hell is UT going to offer him - NCAA probation and perpetually playing second fiddle to football? Unless Cremins has a case of early onset dementia, the only time he'll be back in Knoxville is to coach an opponent.

You don't want Cremins. He's WAY past his prime. They named the court at Georgia Tech after him, but that was several years after they basically did to him what we did to Phil Fulmer. It was like they were saying, "We're sorry for doing what we had to do."

Cremins was never much of a game-day coach, but he had this way of landing stud prospects at just the right time to compete in the ACC, although they never went too far because the rest of the team was always garbage. Then the talent dried up and he stopped winning. They forced him out after four straight mediocre seasons.

I'm glad he's bounced back and is winning some games at Charleston, but hiring Cremins now would be like hiring Lefty Driesell when he was at Georgia State. Actually, it's worse. Lefty did get Georgia State into the NCAA Tournament.
