I knew we were pretty good but this stat kind of surprised me. Can you imagine what our record could have been had our offense been decent. If we could have just consistently moved the ball down the field to keep the defense rested more and maybe averaged 25 points a game, this team could have went 9-3 or 10-2. What a shame. Not that I wanted it to be but had Cutcliffe stayed around, I believe we would have won 10 games this year.

Sorry for the spelling of his name. I meant to say Bob Davie

Yeah the defense may have got shafted by pathetic offense this year. Better offense would have produced several more wins, but so goes the story of ifs ands or buts.

Cut wouldn't have won 10 games with the quarterbacks we had, and he wouldn't have been able to coach them to be anything more than mediocre.

He would have handled the situation the way he did when Casey Clausen was hurt in 2002--adjusted the offense to run the ball 75 percent of the time, and we would have beaten UCLA, Auburn and Wyoming, but lost to UF, UGA, Bama and USC. So we finish 8-4 and go to some Weedeater Bowl, beat some half-baked Big 10 team and Fulmer gets another extension. But would any of that been good for the program long-term? I don't think so.

I think he was pretty into this guy named Eli Manning in 2002.

lmao at "weedeater bowl". I feel very good about next season, with a decent offense along with our kick ash defense we might just be pretty good

You're right. That was Fulmer's own doing. But I still think Cut would have ended up doing something similar. We simply didn't have a quarterback this year, and without one you can't run a decent offense.
