Honestly, I can’t say it’s “laughable.” Voters always gravitate towards PPG as an important barometer of success. I’m not sure ZZ definitively deserves to be on this list ahead of anyone that made it, but I certainly wouldn’t trade him for any of those dudes.

Sears doesn’t seem to get much respect on here which I equate to the Texas A&M fans chanting overrated when they beat us. Sears is a very good player, not just scorer. I recall him successfully defending Awaka in the post Saturday and a couple plays later stripping Knecht in the lane when he was going in for a bunny. He’s a volume shooter but still shoots a high percentage. There’s a reason he will finish second to Knecht for SEC POY. JMO

I agree. When you weight Zakai’s defense, I think he is in this tier of player, but him being left off isn’t robbery.

His TS% is .660 on decent volume. That’s pretty insane for a college player. Let alone a guard.

Yeah, defense is rarely taken into account for these awards, and all those guys match or surpass ZZ in the offensive stats department. It is what it is. I'm fine with our guy.

Yep. ZZ is an elite defender and floor general. I would take his vision over any of the other players as well. His shooting obviously isn’t as good, but it doesn’t need to be.

There is also something to be said about his intangibles. He’s just a hard-nosed, tough dude that is the heart and soul of our team and I don’t think we’d be as good as we are if you swapped him for someone else.

Sounds like you agree with Jimmy Dykes?

What? Sears is a friggin' stud. I hate that he plays for Toothlessville as much as the next guy. But cmon man.
He is an elite college player for sure. He played his tail off against us. I think he was mentally and physically exhausted in the last minute or so of that game though. Actually I think our physical stamina/conditioning was evident at the end. Of course the foul trouble we played through kept several guys fresh too. BUT…I’m with y’all …I’ll take ZZ over those guys every day!
