NEW YORK - Genial comic Drew Carey was tapped Monday to replace silver-haired legend Bob Barker on the CBS daytime game show "The Price is Right." The deal was set Monday afternoon shortly before a taping of CBS' "Late Show" with David Letterman, where he confirmed it.

May have to agree with you. Out of all the people that I could think of hosting it, Carey is not one of them. One of the better hosts I could think of doing the show was Dan Patrick. It would have never happened, but I think he would have fit in perfectly.

I heard that the male co-anchor of Entertainment Tonight was a top choice, along with some former anchor on E!.

They were the "pretty boys" in the race.

Yeah, I could be way off base here, but I never really saw the host as a key component of the show. Just keep that wheel spinning and roll out the Plinko board every week or two and the show will do just fine.

My mother, bless her heart, watches the Game Show Network. She was spending the night recently and I had it on for her and when they announced the contestants for some show she already knew who was gonna win and watched it anyway.
