Sorry if there is a thread already on this, I searched and found nothing on boats.

Anyway, I live on the lake but it's summer pool only meaning I have 3-4' of water in the summer but it's dry lake bed (almost all silt) in the winter. I'm looking into buying a pontoon and am a bit of an junction regarding winter storage.

I know some older folks let their pontoons rest on the lakebed around here but I'm not as willing to let what is already a sunk cost investment have any potential for damage. So, anyone have experience? Dry storage at my local marina isn't too bad in cost but free (so long as free doesn't result in a cost) is always cheaper.

Where ya at, what lake?

I'm with you, no way would I let my boat (pontoon or not) rest on the bottom all winter. Nothing good can come from that. Do you have a private dock at your house? If so there are a bunch of shallow water lifts that can keep your boat off the bottom, not cheap but they work. If that's not a possibility get a trailer and haul it out, can you park it in the driveway?

Update on the Mexican Navy Pirate Party ship:

After New York, I believe I heard they were headed to Iceland. Not sure why the Mexican Navy is sailing to Iceland in pirate ship, but hey, freedom of the seas. Bon Voyage!

Edit: last I heard, two people did lose their lives in the accident and a number of others were hurt. Hate that happened. R.I.P.
