"According to Tennessee, UT has a multi-day release planned for next week. Tennessee will reveal orange uniforms on Monday, white uniforms on Tuesday, Summitt Blue women’s uniforms on Wednesday, and Dark Mode uniforms on Thursday. Smokey Grey football uniforms will be revealed at a later date, coinciding with the upcoming football season."

Just a reminder to all y'all VFL fashionistas... UT made all the design decisions; Adidas only made the products.
And sincerest sympathies to you hearts knit Nike consumers. Maybe you can keep in touch with your first love by following Pallas and Styx on facebook. ;)

Dude, you get a big 'Like' for putting the great Fats on here. I enjoyed your post much more than most. Anybody here can figure out how to blend Blueberry Hill into one of these threads?

Oof. I may be in the minority in saying this, but I have never liked the “Smokey Grey” or the silly comic book-ish named “Dark Mode” uniforms. But it’s the players’ program and THEIR college years (not mine!), so if that’s what makes them happy, then it is what it is.

And I KNOW I’m in the minority in not particularly liking to see solid Summitt Blue uniforms being worn more and more often. I practically worshiped Pat Summitt for the Tennessee Goddess that she was, and precisely because of that I don’t think she would have wanted the blue to be used quite as extensively as it is being used now. She often discussed the pride of looking up into the stands and seeing tons of orange. That was Tennessee to Pat, not blue. She loved the color blue and thought it looked great in small accent spots on uniforms, but I’m guessing she’d be a little disappointed that so often our stands look less like a Lady Vols arena and more like a Tarheels arena.

But again, it’s up to the players.

Summitt blue is a beautiful shade of blue.

It should never be more than an accent color. Volunteers and Lady Vols should always be recognized by their Orange!

I love the Summit Blues, though they've never been overly lucky. But I think its definitely time for a bit of a glow up for them. And I like the football Smokey Grays as well so I think there's a chance we'll like those. I think it's a good time for a new look.

I'm glad as I've gotten older that I haven't become cynical and grouchy (at least not yet). I LOVE the greys....I LOVE the dark mode...and I enjoy the Summit Blue. Some people let things bother them that are really not that big of a deal. Hope I never join the "back in my day" crowd.

Congrats!

;) But what you don't realize is that sense of color is the first to go, and you're already senile. 😱

For me it’s NOT that I don’t like the looks of the Summitt Blue uniforms. I think they’re absolutely beautiful, as that shade of blue has always been a personal favorite. The players look terrific in them, too.

On the other hand, grey uniforms on any team looks boring as all get-out to me. Grey is a great shade — in an Ansel Adams photo or on a tombstone.

But liking the physical uniform and thinking they represent the University of Tennessee are two different things. Were known as the Big Orange for a reason. I adore the blue color as a color, but I will never for the rest of my life think “Tennessee” when I see it. And that matters not one bit to anyone but me. lol

Hasn't been part of the LV uniform color palette yet. Football, baseball and men’s basketball, sure.
Lady Vol Basketball wore the Smokey Grey a couple of times, including at Notre Dame in 2016. Softball has worn them every year since 2016. Volleyball and Soccer both had them until the Summitt Blue was introduced in 2022.

There weren’t many highlights for UT, but here are the uniforms:

Don’t expect the basketball or softball uniforms to look much different.

Not a fan of the Smokey Grays, but like the Dark black against the orange lettering and also the Summitt blue. Could leave the smokey gray out. Like the solid orange and the orange and while.

I'm currently preparing lesson plans to (possibly) teach a high school elective in film making. So I'm posting this as an honest, educational question rather than just a rant. (Though I'll confess that both the left and right hemispheres of my brain are vexed.)

Am I viewing and interpreting today's reveal videos through old, neurologically (or culturally) slow eyes?

Because my first instinct was to use these latest two reveal videos in class as examples of obscuring the product in an attempt to generate enthusiasm. Then I'd use them to demonstrate every beginner's predictable tendency to see how many video editing effects (most of which have become cliche anyway) can be jumbled and crammed into 50 seconds. (I'm very aware that I'm publicly criticizing someone's creative effort, but right now I'm wearing my Educator's cap, and feedback is necessary for growth and development.)

Is it my age insisting that the photos from yesterday's orange reveal conveyed much more information, and allowed us to examine the new orange unis in detail? Are my eyes/brain just too old to follow such quickly flashed images and pick up the visual info they convey? Or would younger eyes/brains be just as challenged as mine to describe the actual appearance and design details of the white unis?

Maybe as a thought experiment, without pausing the videos, what details about the new unis can y'all with younger eyes describe from watching just the videos?

The future of today's youth is hanging on your responses! 👨‍🏫 Sincerely, thank y'all for any helpful input you can offer.
