Blue Cain to UT????

What really sucks is missing out on Cade Tyson. Dude went to UNC and did nothing and then lit it up this season at Minny.
I was thinking about this the other day. We probably could have gotten him before this season at a discount since he flopped at North Carolina.

Also goes to show why Hubert Davis got fired. Did less with more.

Cain is not a pure shooter nor shot creator. He isn’t a G that will raise the ceiling of the team rather than steadily riding the ship. He is a fine player but currently Barnes is recruiting at above the level of his talent and physical prowess. He also is likely closer to 6’3. I just don’t see him being a good fit here. I would love to have him here. Always want more Knoxville guys on the team, but I also want the best players that give us the best chance to win.

He would definitely be a shooter that we could use given what we are losing with JG and Abrams. Realistically if Barnes is returning next season, he has to go 2/2 in the portal getting shooters.
I think you hit it when you mentioned Abrams, if he came here he would probably get minutes like Abrams got this year, he plays more scrappy than Abrams but his playing time IMO would mirror Abrams. Which I'm not sure Abrams was happy with his minutes and not sure any player that wanted limelight time would pursue that.

I don't have an issue with Abrams. We had a roster spot and took a flyer on him. He didn't pan out or didn't commit enough to Barnes system and stayed in the dog house. I know a lot of folks have the sentiment we are a shooter short on this team coming into the season. I have no doubt that someone like Cain would contribute in bigger way than Abrams did.

I find it hard to believe that Burg started getting an increase in minutes this late in the season and Abrams didn't just because of management. I think Abrams probably didn't buy in enough or work hard.

Not much to add that hasn’t already been said.

Cain is a starter level player on a team that made back to back NCAA tournaments.

I think he is a fine addition to fill out a rotation spot and even a starting spot (depending on roster construction) if he comes at fair market price or discount. But not a player you aggressively pursue by any means.

Slim Shady isn't coming here to come off the bench. He was 2nd in mpg at UGA. I would take him coming off of the bench but not as a starter and for that reason I'm out.

Also buddy got statistically worse from 3 every season. Not sure why anyone would want a a 2 guard that shot 30% from 3 last year, especially when every year we seem to struggle the most from the three point line. We most certainly can find a guy that shoots closer to 40% I believe.

He's from Knoxville, he plays hard, and he's a good shooter. Looks like he would be a good addition to the program.
