Bleacher Report

I wish people would stop acting like there aren't many valid reasons to expect us to be really good next season. Folks aren't just going out on a limb predicting Tennessee to be 10-2. We have loads of talent. We gained valuable experience last season. And we have a favorable schedule (given that most of the toss-up games are at home).

IMO, there is no reason we shouldn't expect a 10-2 or 9-3 season.

Are these the same guys that last year predicted we'd win 4 and 5 games? I know it was BR guys but not sure if it's the same clowns.

These guys are all about that orange!! Why not us? If Georgia loses to Auburn and Bama (which I think they will) anything is possible.

9-3 is doable but I think 8-4 is probably where we will be at the end of the year. I would be happy with either because it's showing progression and Butch is taking the program in the right direction. Our recruiting should continue to improve as well.

Have you seen the injury report?

j/K...it's mostly fluff!

Seriously though...we will be much better. But the offensive line is the last missing piece. As the o-line goes, so does our season! And I would imagine the o-line will be better, but nowhere we need them to be!

I would be ecstatic for 10-2....but i don't think it's happening! IMO

I usually call BS on all BR articles but this time..just this time...I'm inclined to believe.

The way I see it we have 5 games where we should win
BG, WC, NT, Vandy, and UK

6 games where it should be a pickem game

UF, Mizzou, UGA, Okla, Arky, and USC

and one where we will be an underdog Bama

I think people look at our recent recruiting classes and forget that other teams recruit that well year after year. UGA and Okla both probably have more depth and starters with more experience...we haven't beaten Mizzou or UF(in forever) and Arkansas and USC are well coached teams

I'd be happy splitting those 6 games and going 8-4 this year.

I think the Oklahoma game will be the tipping point for the team, and it helps immensely that we have them at home. A win against them steels their confidence, much like an early Florida win use to, back in the day (they were hard to come by, though).

I strongly believe we has as much, if not more talent on this team, than we did in 98. If you look at position by position, we are strong at every single one, except perhaps, for the OL, where there are a few question marks. Still, I think the OL will be ahead of last year by leaps and bounds, because we really had little to no talent at the OT position. We now have a few talented freshmen who could hold down the position, if needed (Jones and Richmond). Boulware might be this year's Jashon Robertson in terms of being ready to play as a freshman.

I noticed a trend in former power programs...when they suddenly start recruiting in the top 5 or so, in the nation, they tend to make a relatively dramatic resurgence within 2-3 yrs. FSU was just a middle of the road ACC team a few years ago, but Jimbo Fisher raked in a big class one year, and had a nice one the following year, too. Next thing you know, they are playing in the NC game.

Bama did the same thing when Saban came along. They went 6-6, I believe, their first season, but had a few big recruiting classes that bumped them into the NC position in short order. The numbers we took the past 2 years was almost like taking a small 3rd class on loan.
