Currie has definitely lost his support from VolNation. IMO Currie made a solid hire with Vitello but if Schiano being selected is true this is terrible. Now UF has Mullen and everyone knows Frost is waiting on Nebraska. Also Patterson signed a extension with TCU and probably said how do like that UT. Plus you have Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Ole Miss if they don’t retain there interim and Arkansas searching for a new coach. Sorry VolNation but I haven’t been on board with Kelly or Gruden. Kelly has too much NCAA history and Gruden has been away too many years from college. There is no way you can compare Gruden to the success Carroll has had. I hope we are able to get a guy like Matt Campbell or Mike Gundy. I’m sure VolNation would also be on board with someone that has Tennessee Roots. Please just make the right hire that looks good on paper at least.

Currie is the 3rd "non-football man" hired as AD at UT. The other 2 were Hamilton and Hart - all 3 made HORRIBLE decisions on who to hire as our head football coach.

For that reason, I do not want to hire a 4th in a row. Hire someone like Fulmer, Spurrier, etc - a former head coach who knows what it takes to build a winning program. No more pretenders to the throne in the top spot (they might make fine assistants/staff)

If you take away the Penn State allegations, the Schiano hire probably causes some minor discontent on Volnation but no protests in the streets.

That’s what’s killing me. The idiotic media is making this out to be some kind of revolt against Schiano just for the sake of not getting Jon Gruden or something. In reality, this is more about a character issue that we don’t want as the face of our football program. But, of course, ESPN is making Greg Schiano out to be a victim here.

Thank you, John Currie.

No way that Blackburn would have even thought about parading one of the Sandusky cover-up crew out as UTs coach.

you're exactly right. Our AD/PR team is staying silent and letting others spin the story out of control against us. We need our own talking heads to get our story out there (without going full character assassination, but if that's what it takes then use as a last resort).

Protests are now taking place in Ohio and Schiano might himself out of a job completely by the end of the week

This. Time for a former football coach as AD.
