At Least 64 Shot So Far In Chicago Weekend Shootings, Including 11 Deaths

CHICAGO (CBS) — At least 64 people had been shot in Chicago this weekend as of 5 a.m. Monday, and 11 of those people died.

On Saturday, young people took to the streets to demand an end to the gun violence. Good Kids Mad City organized what they called a “love march” near 64th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Greater Grand Crossing. They pointed out the high number of women and children killed in recent weeks, including 7-year-old Natalia Wallace.

Mayor Lightfoot’s Chicago: 50 Shot, at Least 6 Killed, Since Friday Evening

Fifty people have been shot and at least six killed Friday through Sunday morning this weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.

NBC 5 reported 37 had been shot, six fatally, between Friday evening and 9 p.m. local time Saturday night.

By Sunday morning the Chicago Sun-Times reported the number of shooting victims rose to 50.

Mayor Lightfoot’s Chicago has witnessed a massive surge in gun violence year, and on July 16, 2020, Breitbart News reported that Lightfoot responded to mayhem by pushing more gun control.

She did not mention that the cumulative impact of county ordinances and state laws means Chicago already has gun owner licensing, an “assault weapons” ban, a “high capacity” magazine ban, a 72-hour waiting period on gun purchases, Firearms Restraining Orders, and de facto universal background checks.

More than a dozen people were shot in a burst of gunfire near a Chicago funeral home Tuesday, with multiple victims rushed to nearby hospitals, according to reports.

Police said 25 people were shot in on Monday, four of them fatally. That followed a weekend that saw 63 shooting victims and 12 people killed by gunfire.

Bernell Tremmell, 60, was shot in front of his business, Expression Publications, at 911 E. Wright. The building is covered in handmade signs, the most prominent of which read "Vote Donald Trump 2020," and "Re-Elect Trump 2020." Law enforcement sources tell "The Dan O'Donnell Show" that it is impossible to know the motive for the shooting since the suspect is not yet in custody, but detectives are investigating the possibility that Tremmell was killed over his political beliefs.

NYPD cops had a front-row seat to a five-on-one brawl — but let the violence play out rather than doing their jobs to break it up, The Post has learned.

An 11-year-old girl was slapped, punched, kicked and even shocked with a stun gun by a group of five other girls after a basketball game around 7 p.m. Sunday on East 125th Street near Madison Avenue in Harlem.

During the roughly 4-minute beatdown, cops sat idly in nearby cruisers — but they didn’t get out until the girl was bloody and bruised, a Post photographer observed.

At least 20 police cars were nearby on the street — with at least one a little more than a car-length away, photos show.
