Here we are on the 18th of February already, and not a mention yet of Black History Month. Shame on everyone, myself included, for not getting this thread started sooner.

This only takes place once a year, so let the celebration commence. Here's your chance to pay a pictoral tribute to those throughout history who've had a positive impact on your life.

I'll go ahead and get the party started:

according to the perspective of a certain policital persuasion, since i did not vote for a certain sitting president, i am racist and therefore do not celebrate black history month, the same is said for all non memebers of a certain policial party that tends to be a a bit "left"

here's my beef w/ black history month, while i understand why we have it, now that the libs want to be politically correct, then why isn't there an asian history month, or italian history month, etc?

i would guess the only month that would be a ______ history month would be july, American History Month. 7-4-1776 100x more significant then most anything in history

We have Italian History month in Memphis every year, culminating in the Italian Festival. My favorite of the summer festivals since I'm a gravy judge.

There are things like that, they just aren't as well promoted.

Not at all. Obviously, I'm not black - but I have fun with it.

We're doing something similar to this thread at the house. I'm a temporary foster parent, and some of the kids that stay with us are black -- I've got one little guy, 7, and he's learning a lot about black history in school, so we've put up some pictures around the house of some figures who he may not be learning about in school, and I tell him about them...we have a lot of fun with it.

It really wasn't meant to be a condescending thread. Just some fun.
