There's nothing that can stop you from disagreeing with him, but wishing death upon a fellow Vol fan and human being is not just classless, it's pathetic.

OMG someone call 911...Get a life dude, i'm sure he didn't honestly mean that physically :lolabove:

I honestly have the same expression on my face as your avatar everytime you post somthing involving basketball.

Bruce had 5 diff guys gaurd Meeks last night and he scored on all of them.

Question: What could Bruce have done?

^^^ You won't answer because you have no idea what you're talking about.:)

I'll answer this one for you. I spoke with one of the men's asst. basketball coaches from a Division 1-A school this evening. I disclosed his auto loan. To protect his identity (because of privacy laws governing his rights) I will not name him. He watched the UT-UK game last night and could not understand how Tennessee could not shut down Meeks. He said that after the first half, Bruce Pearl should have "sold out" to stop Meeks and let Patterson or somebody else beat them. He also said that Pearl should have used a box and one or 2-3 with a double on Meeks. He did go on to say that Bruce was a fine coach and maybe he was out of line to comment. I responded that since he is one of CBP's peers, he had the right to give his opinion.

First of all it was mentioned on air last night that in the pre-game walk through pearl stressed the fact that meeks must be guarded along with patterson. The way they put it was make someone else beat you other than meeks and patterson. You have to look at it like this as a coach you don't go into a game expecting a guy avg. 24 points a game to set the UK single game scoring record. If you did there would have been a different game plan for meeks. There are only so many game time adjustments that can be made and CPB tried almost all of those. Everyone but williams and chism took a shot to guard meeks. There is no such thing as a 2-3 double team...maybe he was referring to a triangle and 2. As far as a box and 1, Bruce pretty much tried that. He face guarded meeks the whole second half. The fact of the matter is meeks is so good at changing directions and using screens he can't be denied a catch you can only hope that once he does catch that his shots are contested, and 90% were unfortunately it didn't matter they fell anyways.

I can all but gaurantee that Bruce has not worked on a box and 1 with this team hardly at all.

And as for the 2-3 zone, that would have played right into their hands because Meeks would have gotten wide open 3's instead of contested 3's, especially with the way we couldn't stop the dribble drive. And not only that but you have to remember Meeks isn't the only good outside shooter on UK, they had a few guys hitting outside shots last night.

Honestly it was just one of those games where it really didn't matter what we did...He was infuego. Our help defense isn't near good enough right now to double anybody either.

I might have misunderstood him about the 2-3. I don't understand the schemes in hoops like I do in football. He was talking over my head a little bit unintentionally. He also went on to say that Cameron Tatum is the real deal and when he figures out the college game he will be a special player.

well you really cant afford to sit maze. I am overall happy with his performace so far. Don't get me wrong I think if this was his third year under UT's system he would be much more of an impact but he is as new to the system as the frosh are. He is our only true pg tab can contribute a few but you can't sit him. He is a junior so time to grow up is over.

Cam is most def the real deal..He's gonna be a great player.

I really like Maze's game. He doesn't make mistakes, my only gripe is that he should drive to the bucket more. When he does good things tend to happen.

Woolridge scares me when he gets the ball haha..He's gonna be good also, but he tends to shoot the ball a little too quickly in a posession. I also wish he'd take the ball to the rim more

I am a little dissapointed in hopson. As far as woolridge I agree I gasp when that shot goes up from the corner but I believe you are seing the difference in a red shirt freshman and a true freshman in tatum and woolridge

All 3 are gonna be GREAT for us with time. I just wish our whole team would take the ball to the basket more lol.

What good is it to be long and athletic if you're gonna chuck up 3's all night?

And if Hopson would take it to the basket and get some easy buckets, his confidence would be back in no time. It's hard to get some confidence when you're air-balling 3's lol.

I love this team and win or lose i'm always excited to see them play..The OP obviously has a basketball IQ of about 4
