all us longtimers know the third saturday in October is the game. Regardless of if the schedule has been tweaked for TV. Roll Tide Roll around the Bowl and down the Hole! Fluuussssh! Gators definitely number 2 though

Alabama has been THE rival since like the beginning of time and will always be THE rival. Florida has become one since the SEC was split into two divisions. While heated, the Florida rivalry will never measure up to the Alabama rivalry.

1. Bama
2. UF
3. UGA

I would've put AUB in there, but we don't see them like we did before the conference split.

To me and a lot of the older VOL fans around the country, It will always be Alabama...Always...Seeing that video of all thsoe bama fans and the band playing rammer jammer the other night on youtube makes me sick to my stomach...Much more than watching those idiot gator fans do the gator chomp...I hate Florida but I dispise Alabama

Ditto. Bama will always be the No. 1 enemy. Their fans make it very easy to hate them.

I hate alabama and I hate the gators. They are equal rivals in my mind, but I'm not sure they still feel the same way.

I'm glad Bama is finally ramping up to the level where we can once again be a contender for "Top Rival" for Tenn fans. Maybe it's a generational thing, but the Bama-Tenn game has a mystique (for me, anyway) that exceeds even the Auburn game. I respect Tenn football; always have, always will. Makes it special when we win and heartbreaking when we lose. But "hatred" doesn't enter the picture. Life's too short for that.

By the way, sorry about the teen-ager smack-talking posts from Bama fans that sometimes find their way onto VolNation. We both have our share of smack-talkers (sigh..). Best to just ignore 'em.

Never did...it's always been Bama.....always will be. The Gators are like a spoiled little brother, while the Tide are more comparable to say....the AntiChrist.

Florida is nothing more to me than UGA or anyone else in the SEC.

I hate everything about Alabama, they will always be the one time that I base the season off of. I absolutely, positively Hate Alabama.

I've lived in Georgia most of my life and I still call Alabama the biggest rival. Even though Bama is in the SEC I still can't get excited about them in the BCS championship game.

Have to be able to compete to call someone a rival. So right now our biggest is Vandy?

I know...but ask any Bama fan who their biggest rival is...they won't say Tennessee...
I read a thread on tidefans a while ago, and I think at least half said they hated UT more than Auburn. However, I think that number will go down a little if Fulmer is gone, and now that they beat UT this year, Auburn is probably the first think they think about.

intra-state rivalries are just more intense...
Usually, but not always. Texas OU from what I have heard is pretty intense, and I can say OSU Michigan is as well.

Compared to some, I am a short timer as far as being a Vol and I used to think the Gators were our biggest rival. But after this past Saturday, Mike describes exactly how I feel about who our true rival is:

Florida is nothing more to me than UGA or anyone else in the SEC.

I hate everything about Alabama, .... I absolutely, positively Hate Alabama.

As a Bama Fan I have to disagree. If we only win one game a year I would take a win over UT in a heartbeat.
Roll Tide.

Florida is still a more important game to win.

A win or loss against them hits twofold as it bumps one up and the other down in the East and is a tiebreaker.

A win against Bama is great, but being in the west, it only affects our SEC record and does not benefit us as much as beating Florida or Georgia.

Ohio State - Michigan is the most bitter rivalry I've ever seen in person. Those fans hate each other.

I hate Alabama.

Actually the UT-Bama rivalry goes farther back than the Iron Bowl.

yeah, i kinda wondered about that. i really dont think bama started viewing auburn as a more rival till the tigers started beating them repeatedly year in and out; till then i think we were the much bigger rival, werent we?...think of it like if vandy (forget that they're bad) started beating us regularly, or maybe UF is a better example - besides a win streak there's not much there; if we were to have split games no one would be calling UF our main rival, we just want to beat them cause they keep beating us...like bama and auburn
